Fearless Outreach Worker – Bedfordshire
8-month Fixed Term Contract
15 hours per week, £9,204 (8 months £6,136)
(Travelling expected throughout the region*)
Fearless is the youth brand for Crimestoppers Trust, the only national crime reduction charity. Our work is focused on helping young people make informed decisions about reporting crime.
We have a really important message; we don’t want any young person to live with, or in fear of crime, so we provide awareness workshops and the ability to report crime anonymously, without having to go to the police. Fearless is recruiting a 2 day per week youth outreach worker, experienced in youth work, education and ideally with a working understanding of Child Sexual Exploitation to deliver this message to young people across Bedfordshire.
Working 15 hours per week, you will work closely with the Bedfordshire Violence and Exploitation Reduction Unit, engaging young people in a variety of settings including schools and youth groups delivering age-appropriate workshops. We are looking for someone who is dynamic, passionate and has a natural ability to engage young people. You’ll be comfortable talking about tricky issues – such as how serious violence and serious organised crime affects young people and you’ll have a sound understanding of safeguarding.
Alongside this you may be expected to contribute to our professionals training – we’ve already trained 3,000 professionals to deliver the Fearless message to the young people that they work with, and we want to expand this effort across Bedfordshire.
We are looking for an individual with a creative flair, to help us maximise our use of social networking to expand our reach, so an interest in creative media production would be an asset.
As you will regularly come in to contact with young people, the successful applicants will be asked to complete a Disclosure & Barring Service application.
*Please note, whilst this post is home based, you will be expected to live within or reasonable commuting distance from Bedfordshire.
A selection process, including interviews and presentation will be held on 22nd July 2021.
Crimestoppers encourages people from diverse backgrounds to apply. The successful applicant will be required to complete a DBS check.
