Job Description

About us 

Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.  
 
We have three training cafés in Newcastle, Oxford and London, where we provide practical hospitality training by serving fresh and socially conscious food and coffee. You will be joining an inspirational team of five running our café in Oxford.  
 
Through technical training such as kitchen craft and barista skills, trainees can gain qualifications and confidence in a public-facing environment where they are supported on their journey out of homelessness.  
 
Over the last year, we’ve reworked our training programme and coffee offer; this year we’re refreshing our menu and building our digital presence, just to name a few exciting projects.  
 

About the role 

As Second Chef, you will work alongside our Head Chef and support the running of the kitchen with resolve and integrity. You will contribute to our effort to develop and refresh our menu, placing the trainee journey at its heart. We also look to you to support the delivery of our training programme for back of house trainees. You will build the café’s reputation and use its influence to end homelessness.

About you 

To be successful in this role, you will have experience working in successful café kitchens and making food from scratch. You will be able to work within set profit margins for specific dishes. You will also be able to deliver the back of house training programme for our trainees and hold or be willing to gain an assessor's qualification.
