About the role
Crisis is recruiting for a Construction Skills Tutor to develop and deliver an engaging and varied programme for members across South Yorkshire. As the Construction Skills Tutor, you will provide our members coming out of homelessness with appropriate teaching and training on accredited and non-accredited learning programmes with a focus on delivering construction, DIY and upcycling qualifications.

This is an exciting role which will give the post holder the opportunity to deliver practical skills training to support people in and around the home. This will in turn support homeless and vulnerably housed people develop their confidence, self-esteem and inter-personal skills.

This is a full time position (35 hours per week), but would consider part time hours. 
 

About you
For this role, we’re looking for someone with really practical skills and experience, and someone who is keen to share their knowledge with others. We’re open to this role being adapted to meet the post holder’s experience and skillsets; be that in painting/decorating, carpentry, joinery, plumbing, electrics, etc. then we’re keen to hear from you.
Ideally you will have a formal teaching qualification e.g. (PTTLS or above) or a formal L3 qualification or above in a relevant vocational area. However, if you don’t currently hold a qualification, but you have some experience of teaching/training people and you’re willing to work towards this, we’ll be happy to support you with this.

Experience of working with vulnerable clients, or an understanding of the issues affecting homeless people is desirable but not essential. The ideal candidate will be committed to empowering homeless people through the development of life and social skills and participation in engagement and learning activities.
