Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK and numbers are set to rise to over 1 million by 2025.

The successful candidates will be part of the South East Wales Locality based in Cardiff

Our Day Support services provide care and support for a person with dementia during the day, in a safe and comfortable environment. This service gives users an opportunity to meet and mix with others, stimulation through social contact and meaningful activities, and an opportunity to pursue personal hobbies and social activities.

This is an exciting time for our Day Support Service, as we will be expanding delivery from March 2017 to include a Saturday service. We are therefore looking to recruit two team managers who will be part of a new way of working, taking our service forward. The position will require self-starters, who can create an environment that encourages innovative thinking and hard work. You will work with the Day Support Manager to ensure all operational elements of the service run smoothly and efficiently. Part of your role will be to develop team members, maintaining client records and ensuring that personal care for clients is provided with dignity and respect.

This position calls for an understanding of the needs of people with dementia, their family and carers. Previous experience in a caring environment is essential, and you must be qualified to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in health and social care. You will need to be a team player with excellent social skills who can inspire the staff in achieving their full potential. You should have good knowledge of MS Office skills, together with a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies

Just as important will be your personal attributes including; empathy, creativity, the ability to communicate clearly.

Alternate Saturday working will be a requirement of this role.
