DEBRA is the national charity that funds research and healthcare to support individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) - a painful genetic skin blistering condition which in the worst cases can be fatal. 

DEBRA was founded in 1978 by Phyllis Hilton whose Daughter Debra had EB - the charity was the world's first EB patient support group. 

Our Vision - We have a vision of a world where no one suffers from the panful genetic skin blistering condition EB.  


Employment - PERMANENT 

Salary - £18,000 to £20,000 per annum 

Hours - Full Time 35 hours per week

It is an exciting time for DEBRA and we need somebody to play a key role in  supporting the growth and development of our volunteering programme.  Our aim is to expand nationwide recruitment, induction and support for volunteering across the organisation.  

We are looking for a passionate individual who is attentive and has a can-do attitude.  You will be a key member of the team providing friendly, responsive and efficient administrative support across all areas of the business to ensure volunteers are efficiently recruited and well supported.  Attention to detail is a key skill as you will maintain excellent records using our volunteering database and coordinate all volunteer adverts on local and nationwide recruitment sites. 

To succeed in this role, you will have a good understanding of the role of volunteers in an organisation, including their motivation for volunteering.   You will be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal as well as a high level of "Customer Service".  Ideally you will have administrative experience but most importantly you will need to have a positive attitude and be able to work on your own initiative.  

You will be based at our Scotland office within easy commuting distance of Hamilton, South Lanarkshire with the option to spilt your time between the office and home working. 

What we are looking for in our Volunteering Coordinator: 


  • IT proficiency - MS Office, Databases and providing Statistical Data.
  • Good People / Interpersonal Skills.
  • Strong Organisational Skills.
  • Strong Written English.
  • Organised and Methodical. 


  • Knowledge of awareness of current trends in volunteering and best practice.
  • Experience of using Social Media in a work setting. 
  • Experience of Supervising and Managing Volunteers.
