Purpose of Job

The post-holder will be an experienced Philanthropy Fundraiser who will lead a newly developed funding stream at Dementia UK. The role will work closely with our Trustees, senior stakeholders and events committee to build meaningful relationships with high net worth individuals in order to support the work of Dementia UK.


Working to specific income targets, the Philanthropy Manager will have the autonomy to build their own pipeline and set their own strategic direction for the programme, with the support of the Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships, Director of Fundraising & Communications, Trustees, and Senior Leadership Team as required.






Key responsibilities

  1. Income generation and prospect management

Lead the philanthropy programme to secure income from a pool of active, warm and identified high net worth individuals by planning and managing the stewardship and cultivation of relationships, with a focus on securing 5- and 6-figure gifts.

  1. Planning and budgets

Produce annual plans, budgets and KPIs for philanthropy income generation, and actively contribute to the wider Philanthropy & Partnerships Strategy.

  1. Prospect research

Identify new prospects for the major donor pipeline through detailed, analytic research, network mapping, and high-level networking.

  1. Special events

Work with an established events committee to develop and deliver an annual Christmas fundraising event – or virtual equivalent - raising c. £75k per year and develop philanthropy-focused and objective-led events for a high net worth audience as appropriate.

  1. Stakeholder engagement and relationship building

Work closely with Dementia UK’s Trustees, Development Group and senior stakeholders to build new networks. Attend fundraising and profile-raising events and relevant sector forums.

  1. Additional general responsibility for all staff

To actively promote the core Values of Dementia UK whilst working towards achieving the strategic objectives of the Charity, focusing on the impact of the departmental Operational Plan and People Strategy. Supporting the management team to ensure that Dementia UK fulfils its obligations for the Health, Safety, and Security of all employees and relevant stakeholders including volunteers. Represent Dementia UK in relevant charity sector initiatives, and ensure that the Charity continues to learn from and share information with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate.
