We are now recruiting for a part-time Marketing and Relationships Coordinator for our Sheffield Region Good Credit project. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced marketing and engagement professional to work in a thriving, cross-party environment. It will suit a candidate:

  • Passionate about Demos’ mission to bring people together across party and social divides to find solutions to the problems of our age, with a particular focus on financial inclusion.

  • Confident working independently and as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, with particular expertise in building effective relationships with a range of stakeholders to promote a project.

  • Ambitious to grow Demos’ local profile, and help secure meaningful impact to improve the credit environment in Sheffield City Region.

About the role

Demos is looking to recruit a talented marketing and relationships professional to deliver our Sheffield Good Credit project. 

The Sheffield Good Credit project is a place-based financial inclusion initiative that aims to transform credit provision throughout the UK, starting with the Sheffield City Region. Demos is working with Mayor Dan Jarvis MBE and local stakeholders from the public, private and voluntary sectors to  co-design tailored initiatives to improve the credit environment for the region. This follows the launch of our groundbreaking Good Credit Index which identified 'credit deserts' where people struggle to access affordable credit despite a clear need for it.

Within this remit, our Marketing and Relationships Coordinator will engage stakeholders across the Sheffield City Region to promote the project and secure significant buy-in, and support the delivery of initiatives both with local stakeholders and Demos colleagues. 

The role will involve developing and maintaining a wide range of relationships to both ensure the projects success and raising the organisation’s profile across Sheffield City Region, in the public and political eye.


Key responsibilities:

  • Develop a network and database of stakeholders across the private, public, voluntary, media and political sectors in the region.

  • Engage these stakeholders in the project and secure significant buy-in from them to take action on improving the local credit environment.

  • Develop and maintain strong and sustainable relationships with key stakeholders to maximise the project’s success and raise Demos’ visibility in the region. 

  • Work with these stakeholders to support their initiatives, by being solutions-focused and quick to identify connections across the project.  

  • Work with Demos’ External Affairs team to write communications copy, and publicise and support the project’s associated events. 

  • Contribute to the intellectual capital of Demos via blogs, staff meetings and away days and by supporting colleagues as required.

  • Identify and manage areas of reputational risk.


Person specification

  • An enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, proactive and tenacious person with good judgment.

  • Track record of successfully marketing products, initiatives or projects in either a B2B environment or a Campaign environment. 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to explain complex concepts in simple and engaging terms. 

  • Highly organised, able to work independently and manage a varied workload. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build and manage fruitful relationships including with information-rich, time-poor senior stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of financial inclusion and/or experience of working in an organisation that promotes it (desirable). 

  • Experience of working in the Sheffield City Region (desirable). 

  • Experience using Microsoft Office/G-Suite (desirable).
