Job description

Depaul UK are currently recruiting for a youth-focused Community Engagement & Communications Coordinator, passionate about ending homelessness, to work as part of a team based in Cumbria and the North East. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £21,068 Per Annum plus Pension & Benefits.

Depaul UK works with some of the most disadvantaged young people in the UK. We specialise in working in communities where poverty and long-term unemployment have resulted in generations of social exclusion and high rates of homelessness

What’s the role all about?

As Community Engagement and Communications Coordinator, you will have a primary focus on recruiting volunteer ‘hosts’ for Nightstop and making sure people at risk of homelessness are pointed in the direction of Depaul.

In addition, you will develop and implement a comprehensive and effective programme of communications and community engagement activities to promote Nightstop North East & Cumbria, creating engaging publicity content and engaging with local organizations, groups and networks. Successful candidate can be based in either Middlesbrough or Carlisle.

What will ideally support your success as our Community Engagement & Communications Coordinator

  • Experience of building effective community relationships, with community, voluntary, and statutory sectors in the area
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the homeless / social care / young people sector
  • Experience in media relations, including writing press releases and handling media enquiries, and a knowledge of key media outlets in North East & Cumbria
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering successful marketing campaigns and promoting a project through social media
  • Excellent standard of written English, and experience of writing engaging materials for a range of audiences
  • A willingness to travel independently around North East & Cumbria, and occasionally nationally
  • To ensure that confidentiality and compliance with the Data Protection Act.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding in relation to vulnerable young people or adults
