E2, London
£32,210 pro rata
Permanent, Part-time
Job description

We're very excited to announce this role specifically for someone with lived experience of the UK's immigration detention system.

Detention Actions aim is to promote the welfare and rights of people in immigration detention in the UK in the UK and elsewhere. We provide support and advice to people in detention in the London area and advocate for detention reform.

We campaigned for an end to the Detained Fast Track asylum process, successfully bringing a strategic legal challenge which led to the suspension of the process in 2015 and we continue to campaign against its re-introduction.  In 2020, we have brought several prominent legal challenges, preventing the removal of those due to be deported on a charter flight to Jamaica in February, and pressurized the Government into releasing the majority of people detained during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lived experience work informs our campaigning work and service delivery. It is essential for this role that you have lived experience of immigration detention or other immigration, asylum or deportation systems. If you're not sure if this applies to you, please get in touch!

The role is part time, for 21 hours (3 days) per week. It will be based in our office in East London, but will involve working from home in accordance with Government guidance. Office attendance is currently optional, and you will not be expected to attend the office if you are concerned about your health due to COVID-19.
