Context of the role.

The successful candidate will be guided by the Communications & Fundraising Officer to communicate the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers and demonstrate the impact of Upbeat Communities to our supporters and followers, as well as to new audiences. They will have a positive attitude and love communicating what we do as a charity.

The role can mostly be done remotely; however, it will be required for the candidate to travel to our base in Derby a minimum of 1 day a week to stay connected to the team, and for team meetings and training as and when they occur.

About us.

Upbeat Communities was founded in response to the needs of refugees arriving in the UK and the stories they shared of their lives and their journeys. Through building relationships with those from refugee communities we were able to identify their needs and the best ways to respond.

One of the best resources a refugee can have to help them settle in their new home is a good social network. Relationships and connectedness can help overcome the many challenges faced by those seeking refuge. With this aim, we want to help connect refugees into community.

Our name reflects our vision to see thriving, positive communities where refugees can contribute and make the most of opportunities.

We greet new arrivals with our Welcome Boxes befriending project. We offer free English classes and community activities to help refugees (adults and children) integrate. We empower refugees to rebuild their lives through Host Derby (temporary accommodation), mentoring (careers guidance) and the UK Refugee Resettlement Scheme, which local authorities contract us to deliver. We also empower the local community through awareness raising.

Upbeat Communities' Christian ethos is the motivation for starting and the basis for our values. Jesus's primary message was 'to love your neighbour as you love yourselves'. Main duties and responsibilities:

Content creation

•  Creating written and visual content for social media and our website.
• Finding useful resources, articles, and news to be shared on our website, blog and social media.

Social media and website

•  Day-to-day management of Upbeat’s social media accounts including creating and scheduling content, replying to messages, and interacting with followers.
•  Updating the website with relevant images, statistics, and news.

Supporter stewardship

• Following Upbeat’s donations process, ensure donors are thanked in an appropriate and timely manner, and that all communications are logged on to our database (Donorfy).
• Researching local fundraising or awareness-raising opportunities and events.

Other

• Working with Upbeat’s Communications & Fundraising Officer on larger-scale fundraising campaigns throughout the year, as well as the communication of these campaigns.
• Making an active contribution to the overall work of Upbeat Communities through team meetings, staff training, awareness and fundraising events, and any other appropriate activities.
• Being committed to and working in accordance with Upbeat’s values and ethos, as well as adhering to all organisational policies and procedures.

Person Specification:

We are looking for an exceptional candidate who can demonstrate the following qualifications,

experience and skills.

Qualifications & Experience

• Demonstrable experience of excellent use of the English language, particularly written.
• Experience of a wide range of communications, marketing, and media.
• Experience managing social media accounts.
• Evidence of past written work that can be presented on request.
• Experience of creative work e.g. graphic design, video editing or photography.
• Confidence writing lively, compelling copy.
• Experience of working collaboratively, especially in small teams.

You will also support partners and donors to contribute to the delivery and expansion of the programme. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with strong customer service skills, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Join the team at Age UK Waltham Forest’s to deliver an exciting Digital Champion Programme Project including assisting to identify older people who would benefit from support to get online and use technology. You'll play an active role in promoting digital inclusion services across the borough and directly support older people with their digital skills development, in person and remotely.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for digital communications and creating engaging content for digital and social platforms. We are looking for someone with excellent communication and implementation skills, who will enjoy being creative and using their expertise to enhance SAT-7 UK digital communications.  The role is based in Chippenham but flexible working options are available.(We will be open to discuss increased hours during a maternity cover period of May – December 2024.)

The Digital Content and Communications Officer (DCCO) reports to the Digital Communications Manager and has responsibility for the SAT-7 UK website, digital marketing and social media. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Website: Developing and updating SAT-7’s websites as inspiring platforms to raise profile, income and engagement.

Emails: Work with colleagues in the Communications Team and across the organisation to build, test and send responsive email templates for all SAT-7 UK’s email requirements (meeting SAT-7’s brand guidelines and conforming to industry standards). Use email marketing tool DotDigital to develop automated communications that strengthen supporter engagement and convert recipients into committed donors.

Content: Deliver engaging and inspiring rich media content across a range of digital channels, including web, email, social media and other digital marketing platforms. 

Social Media: Work closely with other team members to deliver strong social media content and engagement across various platforms, chiefly Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, LinkedIn.

Marketing: Support the digital marketing of SAT-7 resources and campaigns through social media advertising, external agencies and other channels as required, to engage more deeply with existing supporters and donors, acquire new supporters and to raise funds for SAT-7 UK.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• In all communication ensure consistent messaging, branding and tone of voice for the intended audience and that content conforms to the security and style guides.
• Use Customer Relationship Management systems to ensure efficient and secure storage of information.
• Assist members of the team in responding appropriately to communications from supporters and other organisations.
• Liaise with SAT-7 staff from other offices to share ideas and resources.
• Assist the Digital Communications Manager and represent SAT-7 UK at conferences and events as required.
• At all times operate within relevant statutory requirements and guidelines, following best practice recommendations wherever possible. Specially ensure compliance with the Fundraising Regulator and General Data Protection Regulations.

Refettorio Felix is an innovative charity providing a restaurant quality 3 course meal freshly made entirely from surplus food in our beautiful space, for free, to vulnerable and economically insecure adults. It also offers wrap around care and support in areas such as housing, mental health and employment. 

We offer our services Monday to Friday during the day. At night and at the weekends the space is for hire as an event venue for weddings, parties and corporate events. 

The role is made up of three major components:

1. Focus on the delivery of the commercial events, being heavily involved in all aspects from marketing through to handling enquiries,  and then managing the client relationship and their event to conclusion. 

2. To organise fundraising events in the space. 

3. To assist with the marketing of the charity in general, including the day to day management of the social media channels. 

You should have some knowledge and interest in web sites, an interest in food would be an advantage. Specific experience in a similar role professionally is not essential, your knowledge could have come through voluntary activities, hobbies, university clubs or elements picked up through part time jobs. The essential qualities for this role are being highly organised, highly creative and passionate about the charities mission. 

Main duties and responsibilities:

· Create and deliver fundraising events in the venue.

· Operate the commercial events office on a daily basis - this includes but is not exclusive to: - managing new clients; receiving inbound enquiries: conducting site visits and recording and managing booking details, invoicing and booking necessary staff as required.

· Operate day to day the Charity’s’ Social Media Channels

· Support the management of the charity’s website.

· Assist with the implementation of the commercial events and general charity’s marketing plans, using relevant elements of the marketing mix.

· Develop and produce promotional materials, including copywriting and liaising with other departments, agencies and suppliers.

· Raise the profile and brand of all our facilities and services

· Maintain relationships with agencies, relevant publications, suppliers etc.

· Complete monthly marketing and sales analytics.

· Assist with strategic decision making and reporting.

· Create (yourself and/or using professional photographers) and curate photography to maintain a relevant, up-to-date stock of images for charity publicity, event sales and marketing.

Location: The post holder will have a normal place of work in Hampton Hill, London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and will be required to travel throughout the borough to support our other offices and outreach venues.

About the role:

We are pleased to offer you an exciting opportunity to join our advice team at Citizens Advice Richmond as a generalist adviser.

In this role you will be working alongside volunteer advisers, and be responsible for providing generalist advice to clients, including advice about financial confidence, welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment, immigration, discrimination and other areas of public and social welfare law.

You will work alongside our existing projects and services, which are already seeing a large number of clients affected by cost-of-living issues.

The role will focus on responding to clients by email and giving advice over the telephone. There will also be some face to face interaction with clients when needed. It will be helpful to have experience of supporting new trainees.

We are a friendly and diverse office. We support clients across our community, and aim to reach the most vulnerable and excluded in our community.

Normal working hours 9.00 – 17.00 excluding lunch break. Some evening attendance is required at governance meetings – time off in lieu will be offered.

Main duties and responsibilities:

IT

· Ensure all staff have IT equipment from their first day of work, ensuring that they are able to access the IT support they need with minimal interruption to daily tasks.

· Keep a record of all IT equipment, key information and renewals due.

· Be the first point of contact for IT provider, leading on Cyber essentials & annual IT audit.

· Lead on the implementation of strategic IT goals.

· Support the Continuous Improvement Officer to find new ways of working and ensure we stay up to date with emerging IT trends.

Data

· Maintain organisational databases, ensuring all data is accurate, meaningful, and compliant with the requirements of current and potential funders, as well as Upbeat’s policies and procedures for data.

· Liaise with Data consultants to manage workflow of data requests.

· Present data in a useful manner for stakeholders.

· Play a key role in the organisation around GDPR and Data Protection.

· Be responsible for the confidential maintenance of service user records and other relevant documents in line with Data Protection legislation (e.g. data protection impact assessments).

Facilities

· Support with office management processes (ordering stationery and equipment).

· Support in the efficient use of premises (organise key holder rota, complete regular checklists).

· Support with risk management and Health and Safety compliance (risk assessments, checklists, PAT checks).

Administration

· Provide administrative support to the charity’s projects (topping up payment cards, phone lines, donation admin).

· Assist with organising and monitoring staff training.

· Assist with the review and writing of policies and the staff handbook.

· Assist with process mapping across the organisation.

Other

· Make an active contribution to the overall work of Upbeat Communities through team meetings, staff training, awareness and fundraising events, and any other appropriate activities.

· Be committed to, and work in accordance with Upbeat Communities’ values and ethos, as well as adhering to all organisational policies and procedures.

· Participate in relevant networks and forums to assist in the work of this role as part of individual and professional development.

Person Specification:

Experience

· Experience of supporting IT systems.

UKCF are the membership organisation for 47 UK community foundations; the only national network of charitable funders with a physical presence in every part of the UK and the UK’s 4th largest funder.

We are currently using a shared legacy system built with Salesforce Classic though will be implementing and supporting 38 individual Salesforce instances from June 2024 for each Community Foundation. Each individual instance will be based on a network agreed Salesforce design, with the ability for foundations to bespoke their system to fit their individual needs if required.

This role of Systems Administrator reports into the Network Digital Transformation Lead and will initially cover our existing legacy system and be an integral part of the implementation, data migration and ongoing development and support of the new system and structure.

Your role

As Shop Manager at Scope's Tonbridge shop,  you’ll have autonomy to run your shop using your creativity and flair to flourish in our retail environment. Our retail roles are full of variety, and every day is different! One day you might be  generating and processing stock and designing an eye-catching window display. The next day you might be recruiting and training our wonderful volunteers. Every day there will be a different challenge that you’ll find extremely rewarding. You will have relevant experience in retail but a great attitude and willingness to learn is just as important.

About you

As Shop Manager you’ll be passionate about retail and have a love of fashion with experience of running a shop, or you’ll be looking for a management role as the next step in your career. To be successful, you’ll need a commercial, can-do attitude and always put the customer’s needs first. We’re looking for someone with excellent bilingual communication skills (Welsh and English) with great news sense, demonstrated through utilising  bilingual media outlets in Wales, and a sound knowledge of Wales and UK media.

About the role 

You’ll co-develop and implement an inclusive bilingual media and communications programme across traditional, digital and social media and maximise our messaging and campaigning impact in Wales through powerful communications. 

You’ll build a sustainable team of proactive volunteers affected by Parkinson’s to energise our communications through their personal stories and participation in communications work.

What you’ll do:

• Manage, monitor and report on the bilingual web pages and Facebook page for Wales

• Maximise coverage for campaigns and fundraising communications in Wales, and produce creative content, including video

• Research and ‘sell’ stories to maximise coverage, involving people affected by Parkinson’s

• Provide Welsh language media interviews

• Conduct media and social media training for staff and volunteers and produce media briefings to support interviews

What you’ll bring:

• Experience of interviewing and case study collection within sensitive topics 

• Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, the media and stakeholders in Wales

• Ability to work co-productively with people affected by Parkinson’s

• Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and enable others to meet challenging deadlines 

• Willingness to participate in the Media and PR out-of-hours on-call cover, and the ability to work flexibly, from home, as member of a dispersed team
