Contract, Full-time
Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a communications specialist to join the Diocese of Guildford as Interim Head of Communications (maternity cover contract). Reporting to the Diocesan Secretary, this pivotal role would suit an experienced communications professional comfortable with managing a small team together with multiple stakeholder relationships.

You will play a leading role in shaping both the communications team and the communications focus, helping to embed effective communication between Church House and our parishes, as well as beyond.  The successful candidate will lead the implementation of the Diocesan communication strategy which for 2022 includes the deployment of a new Diocesan website and other digital tools.

You will be a strategic but hands-on communicator with experience in reputation management, media relations and issues / crisis management.  We seek a proactive / sleeves-rolled-up type comfortable pivoting between day-to-day comms activities as well as providing strategic counsel to our Leadership team.  Candidates with experience of working in a safeguarding environment, or with schools and an understanding of GDPR are particularly encouraged to apply. It is an exciting role in an area of work where no two days are ever the same.

We recognise that for individuals the opportunity to work flexibly can enable them to achieve a better work-life balance.  All of our employees have successfully transitioned to a hybrid working model and we are very open to conversations on work patterns to suit our employee’s needs.  We are proud to be a flexible employer.
