This is an exciting chance to really make a substantial difference to the young people we support at Active8. It is part of plan to increase the fundraising capacity of the charity with a significant amount of untapped potential so it is an exciting time to join.
Ideally we are looking for a candidate with experience in writing compelling funding applications and managing relationships with funders.
However willingness to learn, passion for the cause and transferrable skills count for a lot and training will be provided if you do not have direct experience but you are creative, good at story telling, enjoy building relationships and have an eye for detail.
An average week might involve researching and writing grant applications or meeting funders. It might be working with our project coordinators to write evaluations and report to funders, it could be having a 121 with a member to create a case study or attending networking events to raise awareness of Active8 and build funders knowledge.
As you would expect when working for a small charity no two days are the same and we all ‘muck in’ doing things outside of any job description which will make working at Active8 so varied and enjoyable.

If so, Back Up could offer you an inspiring and fulfilling role making a significant difference to the lives of people affected by spinal cord injuries.
About the role:
We understand that a spinal cord injury can be devastating, but we believe it shouldn’t prevent anyone from getting the most out of life. And we’re here to help make sure that can happen. We provide a range of services for people affected by spinal cord injury, and this provides us with a unique insight into the issues they face in their day-to-day lives.
The role of Data and Systems Manager is a new one, and reflects the growth and diversification of how we reach our audience and offer them support. To do that, we know we need to make best use of our data and systems to make informed decisions and offer the right support at the right time.
As our first Data and Systems Manager, you will have the opportunity to bring your own creativity and help shape the role. Reporting to the Data Protection Officer but working across the whole organisation, you will oversee and constantly improve our data and how we use our systems; whilst seeking out new ways for us to develop and improve how we work. Above all, you will be passionate about being able to demonstrate the impact of what we do, and you will see for yourself how Back Up quite literally transforms lives every day.

Ealing Shop Manager (Part-Time)
Every 6 minutes someone learns that they are losing their sight. Every five hours, a baby is born with sight problems. In these moments, two profound questions emerge:
• Can this be stopped?
• How do I (or my child) live this life?
The merger of Fight for Sight and Vision Foundation on 1st April 2023 will enable us to address both questions. By combining our strengths and expertise we’ll be the only significant national funder with the efficiency, capability, and capacity to increase investment in medical research and social improvement. Together we can mitigate both the prevalence and impact of sight loss.
We have a clear ambition, led by our CEO, Keith Valentine, who has valuable lived experience of sight loss. This ambition includes retail growth plans and an income generation strategy to open more shops over the next 5 years. We currently operate 11 shops selling donated goods, including an online eBay shop.
We are now looking for experienced, committed, and creative individuals to join our dynamic team as we devise and launch a new five-year strategy. You’ll be part of something impactful, we’d love to hear from you.
The Ealing Shop Manager will play a crucial role in the future growth of our newly merged charity and the impact that we can achieve through partnership for people with sight loss.
