The independent safeguarding chair role will be to:

• Help prepare our Safeguarding Panel meeting agendas.

• Provide effective scrutiny of SeeAbility’s safeguarding performance.
• Champion Making Safeguarding Personal.
• Constructively challenge those responsible for maximising performance.
• Help shape SeeAbility’s safeguarding implementation plan.
• Monitor progress of the plan.

Your experience & personal characteristics 

You will have experience of leading and managing others in senior positions and of chairing complex meetings productively.

You will have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding adults legislation and best practice and extensive experience or safeguarding in the public and/or voluntary sector.

You will be a strong advocate for creating a safer culture and encouraging change.

The role as the Behaviour Consultant Lead will be to:

• Work closely alongside our support teams to conduct comprehensive assessment, intervention, and evaluations over the long term, developing positive behaviour support plans that enable therapeutic support to be delivered within a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework. 
• Deliver PROACT-SCIPr-UK® training to our support teams. 
• Coach our support teams how to deliver excellent support, using approaches such as Active Support. 
• Support the team to develop skills in monitoring and evaluating outcomes, for example using the Periodic Service Review.
• Support the business development team with new referrals, ensuring that we are working within our defined model of support and developing that model to meet new needs where appropriate.

• Ensure that your work is always delivered through a trauma-informed lens, upskilling the team around you to consider the impact of trauma on their practice.

Our Clinical Assessment & Intervention Team (CAIT)

Led by a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst and UKBA(Cert), we have highly specialised team of clinicians, including rehabilitation workers for the visually impaired and behaviour consultants. We assess functional vision and test for cerebral visual impairments, which can often be an overlooked establishing operation for behavioural challenges. As well as direct assessment and intervention to work to increase people’s opportunities in life, we train our support teams to meet the people we supports’ unique needs.  Our team members are committed to joint working with families, support teams and our NHS and local authority colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for the people we support.

We work as partners with the residential or supported living teams to build plans that are accepted, operationally achievable, generalisable, and sustainable. 

Your experience & personal characteristics 

As you will be working with people in their own homes, residential and group supported living services, you must be confident engaging with diverse groups of people, family members and multi-agency professionals.  You need to be passionate about equality and equity, being able to see the potential for improvement and knowing how to guide the person we support and their team to achieve the best. You will already have experience working directly with people who have learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, multi-sensory impairments, and people who may present behaviours that challenge.  You will be fluent in the use of applied behaviour analysis to devise ways that are simple but effective to measure baseline and on-going development.  You will be able to support our teams by putting plans into action through your direct modelling.

Your qualifications

This position requires a minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis or a related field (such as Positive Behaviour Support) with at least two years of applicable experience; or Master’s degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis, with one year of professional experience. 

Candidates wishing to work towards their BCBA or UKBA(Cert) qualification will get their supervision as part of this role.

Headway East London is a charity supporting people affected by brain injury. Working across 13 London boroughs we offer specialist support and services for survivors and their family. About the Role

We are looking for a Day Service Co-ordinator to join our art studio team and support people living with brain injury in our day centre in Haggerston.

You will take responsibility for organising and delivering activities in the Submit to Love art studio, such as supporting members in creating new artworks, planning and delivering events and outings, and engaging members in a variety of other activities in response to their needs and interests.

The role also involves providing advocacy and support (key working) for up to 12 members and ensuring the smooth running of the day service as a member of the co-ordinating team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Activities in the art studio:

•  Support members to engage creatively and develop their personal artistic practise.
• Work alongside the studio manager, day service members and volunteers to plan and deliver events, including artist led workshops, exhibitions and open studios.
•  Plan trips to cultural events and experiences.

Key working:

• Act as key worker for up to 16 members, checking in regularly about their engagement in the centre and their general wellbeing, and supporting them with information, advice, and advocacy as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain contact with members’ families, carers, and relevant statutory partners to facilitate good communication and better provide appropriate support.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including comprehensive individual risk assessments.

Day Service co-ordination:

• Work closely with colleagues and volunteers in the day service and other teams at Headway East London to create a welcoming, supportive, and stimulating environment for members.
• Share responsibility for practical tasks in the day service to ensure its smooth running.
• Work sensitively with volunteers, supporting them alongside the volunteer co-ordinator to take on meaningful and rewarding roles in the day service.

Fundraising Assistant

Horatio’s Garden charity is looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual, with flair for communicating through the written word, to support our Trusts & Foundations fundraising. Horatio’s Garden is a growing, award winning, national charity improving the lives of people with spinal injuries by creating and nurturing outstanding garden projects in NHS spinal injury centres.

Trusts & Foundations is our largest income stream and we are looking to increase capacity in the team during a growth period for the charity.You will support our experienced Trusts & Foundations team to help meet, and exceed, our income targets and to provide fantastic support to our donors.You will also have the opportunity to spend half a day a week in our Salisbury garden assisting the Head Gardener and spending time with beneficiaries.

Main duties: 

1. Identify and research grant giving trusts and foundations to whom Horatio’s Garden is eligible to submit applications for funding. 
2. Proactively approach relevant trusts and foundations, where possible, to discuss potential applications before submission. 
3. Prepare and submit high quality applications for funding for a range of Horatio’s Garden projects.
4. Prepare and submit high quality, timely progress reports to grant givers, contributing to longer term relationship development with funders. 
5. Maintain the Trusts and Foundations pipeline to maximise supporter retention and income generation.
6. Identify and deliver opportunities to engage grant givers with Horatio’s Garden, through events and garden tours, to increase supporter engagement. 
7. Support the whole fundraising team with tasks where required.

General

1. Work with the gardens, arts programme and finance teams at Horatio’s Garden to understand the need for funding and the impact of Horatio’s Garden to maintain profitable relationships with supporters.

2. Ensure all contact and communications with supporters is recorded on our CRM database and on pipelines to enable continuity with supporters across the team.

3. Keep up to date with trends and developments in fundraising to identify opportunities for Horatio’s Garden to increase sustainable income.

4. Actively contribute to team and organisation meetings. 

5. Actively contribute to projects and activities across the organisation, supporting colleagues and volunteers where necessary.

The Service:

The service facilitates peer support and delivery of monthly workshops and drop- ins. The service will provide first-class, person-centred information, advice and guidance to people with learning disabilities through both one-to-one and group support.

The Role:

You will provide relevant and accurate information, support, guidance and signposting including both one-to-one and group support for people with complex issues. Support will be flexibly based operating out of a central Bromley office but delivered at various venues across the borough. You will act in a key working capacity where necessary, ensuring services are joined up and holistic, provide advocacy and attend case management meetings as required.

• Able to research and provide information about community services

You will have experience of fundraising database marketing within the not-for-profit sector, with a focus on the specific use and manipulation of data structures within a relational database.

This role will be crucial in Muscular Dystrophy UK’s (MDUK) transition to be a more data driven organisation.

Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity bringing individuals, families and professionals together to fight muscle-wasting conditions. We bring together more than 60 rare and very rare progressive muscle-weakening and wasting conditions, affecting around 110,000 children and adults in the UK. In the last three years, there have been more than 10 new treatments – we want to continue this work and need your help so we can fund more research and support for families with a muscle-wasting or weakening condition.

Permanent, part time, 28 hours a week

The role

You will:

• Provide expert support, guidance, and information on cerebral palsy particularly within the context of Scope’s Strategy, to disabled people, families, professionals, Scope colleagues and members of the public.

• Be Scope’s representative within the region on cerebral palsy, joining existing CP forums and groups, helping the CP community to come together, and sharing Scope’s work within communities.

About you

You will:

• Have an in-depth knowledge of cerebral palsy, its causes, health implications, therapies, and available support due to a personal lived experience.
• Have experience and up to date knowledge of current issues that affect disabled people and those around them, specifically people with cerebral palsy.
• Have at least two years’ experience working in a customer focused environment.
• Have excellent communication skills with an understanding of different needs and being able to respond to these accordingly.
• Have a strong ability to convey complex information in an accessible way and engage diverse audiences.
• Be an excellent communicator who demonstrates effective person-centred listening, empathy, and probing skills to respond to underlying issues and assist customers to make informed choices.
• Be highly organised with the capacity to prioritise workloads effectively by using your own initiative. Ability to engage groups of people and individuals on the subject of cerebral palsy and disability.
• Have direct experience of the barriers that society creates for disabled people. Bringing drive and enthusiasm to the role, demonstrating that you care passionately about improving the lives of disabled people.
