Openstorytellers uses story and narrative to help people who have learning disabilities or autism to develop their communication skills and find their voice; to be heard, understood, valued and included, and to have choices in life. Our aim is to empower and enrich lives. We are seeking a Director with the skills and aptitude to lead this creative arts based organisation through the next exciting period in its development.
Recently celebrating its 10th anniversary, Openstorytellers is a maturing organisation that has proven its resilience and the sustainability of its unique offer. So that our flourishing activities can continue to grow and thrive we have made changes to our management and team structure, our governance arrangements, and our programme. These changes will also enable us to extend our offer through new initiatives.
The Director will ensure that our Board Members and workers share a clear understanding of and commitment to Openstorytellers’ values, mission and direction, and work effectively in pursuit of the agreed strategy.
The Director will work closely with the Chair of Trustees, advising on strategic direction and providing regular reports on performance, on compliance matters, and on any other material factors necessary for their effective governance of the organisation, which is a limited company and registered charity.
The Director will be an effective ambassador, promoting OpenStoryTellers positive reputation and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders and other local and national organisations whose support is important to our success.
The Director will work to agreed goals, maintaining a clear focus on increasing and sustaining income, increasing impact, building effective partnerships, promoting community engagement.
