London, Greater London
Expenses only
Job description

Doctors of the World UK is part of the global Médecins du Monde network, which delivers over 400 projects in more than 80 countries through 3,000 volunteers.

Our vision is of a world in which vulnerable people affected by war, natural disasters, disease, hunger, poverty or exclusion get the healthcare they need.

We provide medical care and advocacy from a drop-in clinic in east London and the mobile clinic, supporting some of societies most vulnerable and marginalised people to access mainstream health services. Over the coming years, we plan to develop and expand our services to meet growing demand. The development of the mobile clinic service was part of this expansion.

Our mobile clinic is staffed with a volunteer support worker and volunteer clinician (doctor or nurse). Caseworkers also follow up on more in-depth cases from our office. These volunteers provide a highly empathetic and practical service to our service users, making a real difference to peoples’ lives.

We are currently running regular mobile clinics at;

  • An asylum seeker drop-in centre - Finchley – 1st Sunday of the month 13.00 - 17.00
  • A domestic worker support group in Holborn – 2nd Sunday of the month 13.00 - 16.00
  • A migrant drop-in centre – Lewisham – once a month on a Tuesday 10.00 - 13.00
  • A migrant drop-in centre - Hackney once a month on the last Wednesday of the month – 12.45 - 17.00
  • We also have other locations where we provide ad hoc clinics.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience of working inside a humanitarian organisation making a real difference!
