Policy & Advocacy Officer (London and Manchester / Leeds / Liverpool)
We are looking for a committed and motivated individual to join us as Policy & Advocacy Officer, playing a key role in our policy and advocacy team and organisation, driving and shaping health policy debates and delivering programmes to advance the right to health in the UK.
Doctors of the World UK is part of the global Médecins du Monde network, which delivers over 400 projects in 80 countries through 3,000 volunteers. Our vision is of a world where barriers to health have been overcome, where health is acknowledged as a fundamental right. Through innovative medical programmes and evidence-based advocacy, we empower excluded people and communities to claim their right to health while fighting for universal access to healthcare
As Policy & Advocacy Officer you will work to maximise DOTW’s influence and impact on health policy debates whilst influencing practice in health services to ensure accessible and equitable healthcare for everyone living in the UK. As part of the policy and advocacy team, you will support our evidence-based advocacy work and deliver projects to:
- maximise the impact Doctors of the World UK’s experience here in the UK and abroad
- empower healthcare professionals and patients
- advance the right to health
A central part of the role will be delivering our Safe Surgeries initiative, which supports GP practices to address the barriers that prevent people from accessing primary care. This involves leading proactive engagement with Clinical Commissioning Groups, local public health teams, GP practices and healthcare professionals, third sector partners and MPs, as well as delivering training and developing resources.

Fixed Term Contract - 12 months, 37.5 hours per week
1 role in London, 1 role in North (flexible: Liverpool, Manchester or Leeds)
