We are recruiting for a Data Manager to lead a team of 3, taking responsibility for shaping, implementing and managing a research data strategy for the Dogs Trust Research team.
Dogs Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK. With a nationwide network of rehoming centres and charity shops. Last year, Dogs Trust centres cared for over 9,000 dogs; we never put a healthy dog down.
The Canine Behaviour & Research department delivers the technical resources and skills to enable Dogs Trust staff to provide the best possible support for the dogs within its care and evidence-based advice to external stakeholders in order to improve canine welfare worldwide. The Research team aims to ensure that policy, practice and operational activity is based on the best evidence.
The research-data strategy will guide the collection, maintenance and reporting of data to support the strategic roles of the Canine Behaviour and Research department and other Dogs Trust departments to improve canine health and welfare, while remaining in line with the wider Dogs Trust data strategy. It will also seek to enhance the data culture and data literacy within the Research Team.
To be successful in this role you will have extensive expertise in using R for data management, analysis and visualisation, as well as an understanding of the operational practicalities of accurate data collection. You will be fully conversant with all relevant Data Protection legislation and committed to its implementation, with the ability to explain complex information to lay audiences.
You will be a real team player with strong interpersonal skills, and you will be motivated by the aims and objectives of Dogs Trust.
