Head of Philanthropy
Highly Competitive Salary
Dogs Trust is looking to appoint an outstanding individual as their new Head of Philanthropy.
This is a new role which has been created to support the growing work of the Philanthropy Team, with responsibility to develop a strategy that will deliver a significant increase in philanthropic income to support the work of the Dogs Trust. It is an outstanding opportunity to join one of the best-loved and fastest growing brands in the charity sector, and to be responsible for establishing and nurturing Dogs Trust’s most valuable relationships with High Net Worth Individuals which will lead to significant financial support.
The mission of Dogs Trust is to bring about the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction. Although it has well over a hundred years of history, it was the charity's decision to embrace a non-destruction approach to dog welfare, 50 years ago, that defines Dogs Trust. From that point on Dogs Trust has led the dog welfare sector in every venture; the proactive and reactive measures the charity has delivered since then have brought the numbers of dogs put to sleep in government shelters down by 97%. Today Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity but as a charity solely funded by the donations of its amazing supporters, success through Philanthropy has never been more important.
Based in London and reporting to the Deputy Director – Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships, this role is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on Philanthropy at Dogs Trust. The successful candidate will lead on the charity’s Philanthropy and Special Events programme, and will have an extensive and highly developed specialist knowledge of the philanthropy market in the UK, and ideally in other global markets. They will also personally manage a portfolio of the charity’s most valuable relationships with high net worth individuals to secure six and seven figure gifts.
The people who work at Dogs Trust bring ambition, passion and a determination to succeed in all they do, coupled with warmth, integrity and a sense of fun. The person we are looking for will combine a genuine love for dogs and their welfare with a professional, ambitious and can-do attitude – they will think big and get the job done in a collaborative and engaging way.
If you are a highly-talented fundraising leader, passionate about dog welfare and hungry for a career-defining leadership challenge, then we want to hear from you.
