Job description

Scotland (home based with option of either Glasgow or West Calder rehoming centre)

North West England (home based with option of Manchester or Merseyside  rehoming centre)

Dogs Trust are the voice that every dog needs under times of hardship. They have been picking up the pieces, protecting these much beloved animals and championing for all dogs to enjoy a happy life free from the threat of unnecessary destruction for the past 126 years. Homelessness, hunger, and fatal diseases are just some of the problems faced by strays. This magnificent charity fights to ensure that dogs are safe and loved by rehoming thousands of dogs every single year

In 2020, a shocking 50,000 dogs were forced to live on the streets due to being lost, abandoned, abused, and unwanted with almost 2000 of these strays agonizingly being euthanized every year. Dogs Trust have a mission to stop healthy dogs being destroyed and are currently caring for over 15,000 dogs across their 21 rehoming centres over the UK and Ireland. Dogs Trust want every dog to find their forever home with an owner who loves them and understands their needs, and until this happens, they provide them with a safe home until the next phase of their life’s journey. By promoting responsible dog ownership and providing dog owners with advice and financial support, Dogs Trust hope to stop the abandonment and relinquishment of owned dogs.

Dogs Trust need new Major Gifts Officers, one being based in Scotland and the other in North West England. In this role you will play a crucial part in furthering the reach of this incredible charity. This is a rewarding and diverse role in which you will be driving relationships forward while getting to know the rehoming centres in your region. By inspiring others and delivering impact you will be helping to protect present and future dogs across the nation. You can even visit the dogs as often as you like.

The new Major Gifts Officers will have the ambition to identify new opportunities and cultivate relationships with Major Donors while increasing organic growth across regions. To steward high-net worth individuals to continue making large gifts to the charity, you will be relationship led with an understanding of major donor fundraising, even if your experience is from a sales or business development background. You will be able to secure income and reach targets as the result of being a credible relationship builder, strong communicator, and inspiring writer. Having a history of securing income against targets is needed, along with the drive to build networks and the ability to connect with audiences from different backgrounds.

This is an incredible opportunity for an independent, driven, and persuasive major gifts fundraiser to join this supportive, down to earth organisation to help continue their fight to protect dogs across the UK and Ireland
