Job description

This is not a “normal” sales job. Traditionally, selling software is about pushy salespeople with impossible sales targets, cajoling people into buying a product that may not be right for them.

We know that approach doesn’t work in the charity sector. Donorfy’s success is built on the quality of our product and the reputation of our company. Sales is the last link in the chain - helping the charity make an informed decision without pressure.

Therefore, we rely on our team’s credibility as experienced fundraisers and charity people, along with the product and reputation, to do the talking for us. This is why we’re looking for an experienced fundraising professional to join the team, helping hundreds of charities to use Donorfy to enable them to do more of what matters.

The job is full-time (37.5 hours/week, with flexibility). Duties include:

  • Conversations with prospective clients - assessing their needs and whether Donorfy is a good fit, using Zoom / Teams etc.

  • Doing product demos - online and occasionally on the prospective clients’ premises (when permitted).

  • Responding to requests for proposals.

  • Following up on your open deals, and bringing them to a conclusion.

  • Delivering live webinars to large audiences.

  • Working with colleagues to improve processes,

Person description

  • The successful candidate will have all of these essential attributes:

    • Experience working either as a professional charity fundraiser, or managing a fundraising CRM in a charity.

    • Very organised - keeping on top of competing priorities, keeping you calendar up to date, using email and Slack, updating our CRM system, attending meetings.

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with deadlines.

    • Prepared to spend large amounts of time in Zoom meetings with prospective clients and colleagues.

    • Good listener.

    • Excellent written, spoken and presentation skills.

    • Positive, cheerful attitude and a creative approach to problem-solving.

    • Ability to absorb complexity and deal with a wide range of prospective clients - relating to senior management as well as sole fundraisers.

    • Contributor to the Donorfy culture.

    • Initiative - seeing what needs doing, finding innovative solutions, seeing what could be done better.

    • Ability to meet in London / south-east.

    • Comfortable with working from home in a dedicated workspace (e.g. an office, not the kitchen table) without interruption. A reasonably fast and reliable broadband connection.

  • Having any of these attributes would be an advantage:

    • Appreciation of the technical aspects of a CRM - fields, integrations, APIs.

    • Understanding or experience of Donorfy or other CRM used in fundraising (Raisers’ Edge, thankQ, Beacon, Salesforce, Dynamics etc)

    • Understanding or experience of popular digital fundraising and comms tools such as JustGiving, Facebook Donate, Virgin Money Giving, Mailchimp, Eventbrite or similar.

Location

The role is home-based - we don’t have an office, we all work from our homes - always have, and always will. We use collaboration tools to stay in touch throughout the day, and we meet regularly in London and the south-east. You would need to be able to do that once or twice a month.

Package

£32k to £42k depending on the person.

Holiday is up to you (most people take around 25 days), and we do not work on English public holidays. A workplace pension is provided after 3 months to which the company contributes 3% of gross salary.

The company will supply computer, monitor(s) and other equipment necessary to working effectively from home.
