Job description

We are seeking a qualified and currently registered social worker with a keen interest in Adult Safeguarding and at least 2 years + experience as having a role within safeguarding investigations for example a safeguarding enquires officer or Safeguarding Adults Manager

The post holder will work with Hounslow’s Voluntary and Community sector organisation who provide services to Hounslow Residents. They will raise awareness of adults safeguarding and work very closely with Hounslow Council’s Adults Safeguarding Service. The overall purpose is to:

·Act as a skilled and knowledgeable advisor and provide support to employees or volunteers in the Hounslow Voluntary sector who may lack experience or be unfamiliar with customers presenting with complex high-risk lives.

·Help develop an understanding within the VCS and community of what Safeguarding is and their role in Safeguarding Adults

·Raise awareness of recognising an adult potentially in need of Safeguarding and the appropriate action to take

·Develop an understanding within the VCS and community on the procedures for making a ‘Safeguarding Alert’

·Develop an understanding of dignity, respect, and choice for those working with vulnerable adults

·Educate VCS & community of policy, procedures and legislation that support Safeguarding Adults activity

·To educate and inform those employed or volunteering in the Voluntary Sector in Hounslow about adult social care about what is available and how to build relationships which will enable them to work with Hounslow Council’s Safeguarding Service.


·Explaining the responsibilities which VCS organisations & Community Groups, their staff, volunteers and trustees have in respect of vulnerable adult protection. Supporting the development and monitoring of VCS organisations awareness of Safeguarding and Adult protection.

·Run safeguarding surgeries & level 1 safeguarding training so that Voluntary Sector Organisation can meet safeguarding compliance requirements.

·Work with community and voluntary services that are new to safeguarding and want to carry out a health check on their organisation

·Provide support and advice to the person at risk and their carers, as well as voluntary sector employees/volunteers and informal advocates

·Develop a safeguarding adult’s champion network that includes individuals who will visit community group. Provide champions with ongoing support best practice advice.

·To keep informed of current legislation, statutory and other guidance with regards to safeguarding, adult protection, data protection and confidentiality  and cascading the information accordingly. 

·To act as a trusted advisor for any safeguarding adult protection concerns raised from the Voluntary and Community Sector in Hounslow and provide timely, relevant support and advice to safeguard the adult. 

·Establish and maintain a working relationship with Hounslow Adult Safeguarding Service and relevant statutory organisations

·Provide, collate, and monitor regular, accurate and timely data on safeguarding and adult protection incidents and reporting for Hounslow Adult Safeguarding Services

·To establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with Hounslow Adult Safeguarding Service and the Voluntary and Community Sector in Hounslow

·Act as a trusted advisor to the Voluntary and Community sector for risk assessing situational safeguarding that may present.




·To act, at all times, in line with the professional standards of conduct and performance as defined by SW England

·To practice, at all times, at the advanced level as defined by the Professional Capabilities Framework
