Job description

Assistant Director, Evidence, London

Permanent Contract

Full time: 35 hours (net); flexible working considered

The Early Intervention Foundation (EIF) is a dynamic and ambitious charity established in 2013 to champion and support the use of effective early intervention to improve the lives of children and young people at risk of experiencing poor outcomes.  As a member of the government’s What Works Network, we play a pivotal role in shaping early intervention policy, as the go-to source for evidence and advice.

We are looking for an exceptional and experienced researcher and leader to add senior capacity to the evidence team as we expand our evidence outputs.  The right candidate will have subject matter expertise in one or more of the following: early years, mental health and wellbeing, vulnerability or applied evaluation.

This is a unique opportunity to bring deep subject matter expertise and excellent leadership and management skills to a highly respected evidence team, supporting the director of evidence to deliver EIF’s work programmes.  This role will be involved in designing EIF’s evidence strategy, as well as lead on strategic projects.

To be successful, the right candidate will have significant experience of leading and delivering complex projects and a strong research background in a relevant field.  You will also understand key public policy and services.  Above all, you will be passionate and committed to improving the lives of vulnerable children and families and be committed to building and supporting a diverse and inclusive team.  You will also be a strong communicator, flexible, and a strong team-player.

If you are looking to use and develop your research skills, work across a diverse portfolio of work and contribute to research that will have a real impact, we want to hear from you.  We are looking to expand the mix and diversity of our team and are particularly keen to receive applications from experts from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.

Our people are at the heart of everything we do at EIF.  It is vital that our workforce reflects the diversity of our stakeholders and the wider society in the UK. We actively seek candidates from diverse backgrounds and communities.  We also recognise the importance of a good work life balance, so we do everything we can to accommodate flexible working, including part-time and job shares for our roles.
