About the Role
Humanists International has another separate entity based in the US. This role will be a part of the UK operations team but will collaborate with the US finance team occasionally when it’s required, for example, during the audit period. Both UK and US finance teams are managed by the same Director of Finance and Operations who is based in London.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can provide excellent finance and administrative support to the small, predominantly home-based team. We’re seeking someone who is personable, highly organised, has attention to detail and is keen to take initiative and learn new skills. Onboarding training will be provided, but we would like you to demonstrate transferable skills.
You will work on a wide variety of tasks which will include bookkeeping and bank reconciliations, being the first point of contact for the organisation, as well as providing general administrative support to the team. You will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across a diverse international team.
This is a full-time or part-time with a minimum of 4 days/week (0.8 FTE), permanent position, which is predominantly home-based but does require the attendance of in-person events such as the General Assembly and Team Building. You will also be expected to attend a number of board-level meetings held on weekends to take meeting minutes - further details are listed in the Key Responsibilities section.

Key Responsibilities

Taking charge of the day-to-day financial activities and office administration of the organisation.

Ensuring high-accuracy bookkeeping and bank reconciliation are completed to deadlines.

Ensuring adequate financial documents are filed on Drive to comply with the audit requirements.

Preparing invoices and receipts to stakeholders as required.

Generating month-end Budget vs. Actual Report from accounting software on time, for the Director of Finance and Operations to review.

Preparing financial data for quarterly Finance Report in tables for the Director of Finance and Operations to conduct quarterly financial analysis.

Assisting the Director of Finance and Operations with the preparation of financial data, tables and files for the annual budgeting and UK audit.

Reviewing and processing expense claims. And ensuring the Expenses Policy is being followed.

Preparing and attaching expense receipts to the CEO’s monthly credit card statements.

Being the first point of contact of the organisation. Managing office inbox, answering office calls and sorting out the letters.

Attending online board meetings (four times a year on Saturdays) and investment committee meetings (twice a year on weekdays between 5-7pm) to take meeting minutes. Board meetings normally take 3 hours and investment committee meetings take 45 minutes. These meetings are usually planned 6-8 months in advance. TOILs will be provided when the meeting is held outside your normal working hours.

Essential Skills

Accounting, finance, or economics qualification.

A minimum of two years’ experience in bookkeeping and administration roles.

This role is part of a small Finance team that supports the work of Headway - the brain injury association. The role is line managed by the Finance Manager and liaises with every team within the organisation.
What you will do
As a Senior Finance Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the purchase and sales ledgers for both the charity and retail company, supporting colleagues, and resolving queries from suppliers and customers. You will monitor the purchase invoice mailbox and online purchase invoice accounts, ensuring that all invoices are downloaded promptly and passed on to relevant colleagues for authorisation.
You will be responsible for recording all purchase and sales invoices on our accounts system, Exchequer and ensuring that all bank transactions are entered on a timely basis. You will also be responsible for preparing and entering key monthly journals, including but not limited to charity and retail income, charity merchandise sales, depreciation, credit card expenditure, pre-paid rent and service charges. The majority of this work will use our Excel linked auto-loaders, but some manual entry will also be required.
You will complete monthly supplier account reconciliations and be responsible for raising any concerns or discrepancies with the Finance Manager.
You will maintain the stock system for the online merchandise shop, updating it with new stock and prices, using the information from the system to create the monthly cost of sales journal.
The Senior Finance Officer will work with the Finance Manager to ensure that all monthly and month-end routines are completed in line with team and organisational deadlines and complete any other finance tasks that may be required.

This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. For the right person, though, there will be considerable flexibility about how the duties are fulfilled in the longer-term. The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. Presently, it employs four full-time ordained ministers, one full-time lay pastor, and a part-time administrator. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. As the Finance Business Partner for Fundraising and CAA you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient utilisation of financial resources to maximise fundraising returns and ensure efficient spend which is aligned to strategic objectives. NB. This is a full time 12-month FTC position.

Upbeat Communities was founded in 2005 to support refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives through a whole range of support including training, social activities, befriending and hosting. Upbeat Communities became a registered charity in 2015.
In 2013, Upbeat Communities launched Derby Language School (DLS) which is a social enterprise that provides language courses to individuals and organisations in the East Midlands. The Financial Inclusion Managers will play a central role in helping us achieve our vision for an end for the need for food banks in the UK. This is a varied, proactive and fast-paced role responsible for day-to-day coordination of local and regional projects and partnerships and providing direct support to food banks in your local area. The role will focus on delivering support and services to Trussell Trust food banks and partner organisations to develop and optimise timely access to financial inclusion support to those visiting (or at risk of needing to visit) food banks including through individual meetings, development visits, regional events, training sessions and national conferences.
Role responsibilities
· Assist food banks to develop their financial inclusion offering by providing advice and support to develop new initiatives and partnerships, optimise existing ones and/or develop referral relationships with advice sector partners

Overall purpose
Provide strategic financial leadership for Baca and be accountable for the provision of financial and performance information to enable the Leadership Team and the Board to ensure Baca is financially sustainable for the purpose of achieving its vision and mission.

Resource Planning, Budgeting and Reporting
- To direct Baca annual budget setting and longer term strategic financial planning, with robust analysis of income, expenditure, forecasts and cashflow.
