 What you will do:

 You will be working within a small team to provide housekeeping cover, cleaning and catering for their on-site training courses, and overnight stays by their clients, staff, or other site users. The Head of South England & Wales is responsible for leading our vision to end the need for food banks in South England & Wales. This role will lead our team of Network Leads and Area Managers as they empower every food bank to orientate their work towards ending the need for their services through the provision of bespoke support, enabling them to reduce the numbers of people requiring emergency food. This role will work with key national partners in South England and Wales to support our network to tackle the underlying drivers of poverty.

Why Access Social Care Exists 

Everyday millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us, we will all need social care at some point. 

We all have a right to hold public bodies to account. But most of us cannot afford lawyers so rely on legal aid. The 77% drop in community care legal aid cases since 2010 means we have nowhere to turn. Without access to justice, our rights do not exist. The rule of law is broken.

Access Social Care provides free legal advice and information for people with social care needs, helping achieve a better quality of life. We work with communities to increase knowledge of the law and our rights. We highlight the gap left by cuts to Legal Aid and provide advice for those who can’t afford it. 
With a 98% success rate, our network of lawyers and barristers ensure fair access to justice when things go wrong. We collaborate with social services whilst ensuring legal obligations are met. About the role 

This is an exciting time to join our organisation. We have a new strategy and are growing quickly including across our senior leadership team. We have nearly tripled in size and income since we started operating in April 2020 and we anticipate that this strong growth will continue for the duration of our next strategic period. 

We are looking for someone with excellent people skills to play a key role in developing and piloting an approach to support people to engage with and use our on-line Social Care early legal help tool. Initially, this project will be focused on how to support carers who have multiple barriers to accessing the support they and the person they care for need.

We want to pilot a network of Peer Navigators who will act as an interface between the tool and people who are most underserved by social care and advice services and experience intersectionality of barriers. The role would particularly suit someone who has experience of the social care system as a family carer or disabled person and/or someone who has experienced barriers to accessing services due to other protected characteristics. 

The role is new and will initially focus on working within our place-based Hubs of Croydon and Gloucestershire. The role will require a creative person who can work in partnership with other members of the team, people with lived experience of social care support and social care organisations.  They will need to develop a set of policies and procedures for the delivery of the project and recruit, train and supervise the Peer Navigators.

To be a success in this role, you should be an excellent team worker, communicator, proactive, flexible, excellent people skills, highly organised and able to meet deadlines. You should also have a thorough understanding of co-production.

Responsibilities 

• With Hubs manager, Hub team members and people with lived experience – refine the aims of the project and identify priorities 

• Develop and implement a project plan for delivery of the project 

• Develop a role description for the Peer Navigators 

• Identify and test different options for advertising and recruiting Peer Navigators 

• Train Peer Navigators in the Care Act and use of the chatbot 

• Develop guidance on how people can seek advice about their employment and benefit status in relation to fulfilling the role 

• Develop and run an appropriate supervision process to ensure good quality support is offered 

• Arrange further training as chatbot develops 

• Set up and run Peer Navigator team meetings to ensure they feel supported, and we learn from their experiences 

• Devise a monitoring and evaluation framework and set up proformas for peer navigators to capture outcomes

What you need to know about this role: 

We know kinship carers are strong, capable and fiercely determined to ensure they get what they need to support their kinship family. And we want to support them to feel confident and empowered to do that. A new training contract with the Department for Education will support this outcome. 

This role is pivotal in supporting kinship carers to understand what being a kinship carer actually means, what choices are available to them and how to access the information and advice they need for their kinship families in England. 

You’ll be part of a team delivering regional roadshows across the country. You’ll help facilitate on the day, presenting to kinship carers across England. Alongside roadshows you’ll deliver introductory training at local peer support groups. 

You’ll join a new team – Advice, Training and Information who will be resolute about creating a positive and impactful learning experience for all kinship carers in England. A strong facilitator and communicator, you will need to be great at presenting content to kinship carers. You’ll need to calm under pressure and able to deliver exceptional in person workshops and training to small and large audiences. 

Being interactive, engaging and able to read the room are essentials for this role. You’ll be curious – and always thinking about how you can improve your delivery and the experience for kinship carers. We’re building a team who is open, focussed on the needs of kinship carers and who are looking to continuously and positively improve. 

As part of this new training service, you’ll receive all the training and development to support you to succeed in this role. This may include overnight stays as part of induction and training. This is a role that will need to travel and we’re happy to discuss how this could work best if you have kinship caring responsibilities. You will not be responsible for logistics. 

What you’ll need to achieve in this role: 

• Co-delivering exceptional in person introductory roadshows to kinship carers in England (16 over a 12-month period) as part of a delivery team. 

• Leading exceptional in person introductory workshops to peer support groups in England (individual target - 20-30 over a 12-month period). 

• An in-depth understanding of kinship care in England (we’ll provide training and support). 

• Consistent approach across training experiences, following manualisation processes. 

• Effectively facilitating roundtable discussions (as part of the roadshow format). 

• Supporting consultation events with kinship carers to support co-design of the service. 

• Ensuring KPIs for service delivery (including feedback and evaluation) are met including kinship carer experiences (90% service user satisfaction). 

• Ongoing continuous development of training resources and delivery using insight, data and participation from kinship carers. 

• Ensuring training is accessible and adapted as required. 

• Be comfortable being a ‘face’ for the service in promotion, in person and for online resources. 

• Take part in creating online content, including being confident in front of the camera to produce video and verbal content to add to our online resources, advice and guidance. 

• Contribute to online resources as required. 

• Take accountability for using Salesforce effectively as our case management system to support service delivery learning, high performance and evaluation. Ensure excellent administration in your delivery, keeping to deadlines. 

• Work closely with Advice Service, Peer Support Service and Programmes teams to create onward referral pathways. 

• Work with local authority partners to create regional content for in person introductory training workshops at peer support groups. 

• Ensure tone of voice, language and brand are in line with Kinship guidelines. Contribute positive active learning and proactively create opportunities to understand kinship carers needs for training (using learning logs). 

• Contribute to case studies demonstrating impact of training service alongside ongoing insight to influence policy and campaigning development. 

• Actively contribute to a delivering high performance across the team. Commitment to personal development.

What you’ll bring (your experience): 

Essential experience, skills and abilities: 

• Substantial experience delivering engaging in-person training and workshops for diverse audiences, or transferable skills which demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills. 

• High quality and professional in-person facilitation skills, or transferable skills which demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills. 

• Demonstrable experience of holding clear boundaries and managing unforeseen circumstances (like disruptive behaviour) within training contexts, or transferable skills which demonstrate your ability to manage boundaries and unforeseen circumstances in a professional context. 

• Proven experience of delivering training workshops which deliver impact and learning outcomes for participants, or transferable skills which demonstrate your ability to deliver positive outcomes in a professional context. 

• Excellent Powerpoint skills. 

• Experience of working with communities with different levels of digital literacy. Ability to develop in-depth subject knowledge (kinship care for example) to deliver consistent and up to date content. 

• Excellent written, verbal and visual communications with high attention to detail, representing Kinship and this new training service with conviction and professionalism. 

• High degree of confidence using technology, or willingness to develop and take accountability for using technology. 

• Willingness to think outside of the box and ability to work with others to work in non-traditional ways to achieve change for kinship carers and their families. 

• A positive, can-do, solutions driven attitude that helps contribute to a clear learning culture for the team.

Project Manager

Salary: £32,000 p.a. pro-rata (£40,000 p.a. FTE)

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic project manager, with basic carbon literacy and an understanding of the schools system in the UK. The role will be responsible for the day-to-day operational delivery and iteration of Count Your Carbon – a comprehensive, web-based carbon footprint calculator, built in collaboration with, and for, schools. Funding has been secured for a large update to the calculator, which will involve working with subject experts, extensive project planning, supplier management and stakeholder-relationship management. The role will also have line-management responsibility for administration staff.

The successful applicant will have experience of developing project outlines and proposals; creating and maintaining project management documentation (such as operational plans, schedules and risk logs); managing, using and reporting from large datasets; delivering evaluating projects and implementing changes based on findings; reporting to varied stakeholders; and supporting fundraising activity.

• Identify new partnership and sponsorship opportunities across a range of sectors and types of organisation to fund Working Families current and new activities

• Research and develop a pipeline of sponsors and partners to expand the types of funding streams available to support our work

• At least 5 years’ experience working with businesses/organisations

• Commercially aware with good business acumen and financial awareness

We have a very exciting opportunity for anyone who enjoys working on the front-line of patient support across the Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway area.

This role will deliver Kidney Care UK’s Patient Support and Advocacy service in the Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway region. This varied role deals with every aspect of a patient’s life that supports better outcomes: welfare benefits, practical, emotional and social support. As well as directly supporting patients, you will raise awareness of the wide range of local and national resources available to kidney patients, and build strong relationships with kidney patients, professionals, and other stakeholder groups in the region.

Based at home (laptop and mobile phone provided), you will be expected to travel independently across the region and manage your own caseload with the support of your line manager and other members of our national friendly, committed team.

We’ll provide the training, you’ll bring enthusiasm and your experience of working with chronically ill patients in a social, care or health role.
