About the Role
Aesop are seeking an Interim Chief Executive to work with the Chair, to ensure that Aesop’s charitable vision, mission and strategic plans are developed and delivered effectively and sustainably. The Chief Executive will ensure the charity is well administered and meets its governance responsibilities. The Chief Executive will act as an ambassador to secure Aesop’s impact and profile locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
About you
You will have successful experience in leadership and the growth of a national charity. Due to the nature of the role, you will have proven turnaround and/or transformation experience and skill set.
A track record of raising funds through grants and success in tendering and bidding for contracts is also crucial. Ideally you will be experienced in working in a resource constraint environment.
With regard to people management, you will have strong leadership expertise and experienced in leading volunteers. Externally, you will represent Aesop positively and effectively in order to secure Aesop’s impact.

About Social Change Lab
Social Change Lab is a nonprofit conducting and disseminating social movement research to help solve the world’s most pressing problems. Historically, social movements conducting disruptive campaigns seem to have been crucial in driving significant political, social and economic change. Despite this, there has been little research systematically analysing the effectiveness of social movements and the strategies or tactics that most influence the success of these campaigns. Our research addresses this neglected knowledge gap and provides actionable advice to advocates and philanthropists working on a variety of important issues, with a focus on animal advocacy and climate change. We support activist groups in choosing effective campaigning strategies and tactics (e.g. via delivering training and workshops) as well as supporting funders with their philanthropic giving. Our work has been covered in respected outlets such as The Guardian, Stanford Social Innovation Review, Deutsche Welle, the New York Times, and more.

As the Director of Social Change Lab, you would have a high level of responsibility and high impact. You would lead our small team in delivering cutting-edge research on the outcomes and strategies of social movements and ensuring widespread communication of this work to key stakeholders. In a world where extremism and terrorism pose a huge risk, both to life and to the pluralist ideals of democratic societies, SINCE 9/11 seeks to lead the way in educating young people and steering society towards a more peaceful and tolerant future. In order to do so, we are now seeking a talented, driven and engaging leader who can take our charity to the next level. We believe that we have a high-quality programme to take into schools and other settings working with young people; our challenge now is to ensure that our programme reaches as many schools as possible.
We therefore need a leader who is confident and creative in building relationships with schools, academy trusts, local authorities, subject associations and teaching unions; someone who is familiar with the national education environment. Supported by a high-profile and committed board, our new director will be tasked with putting all of their energy into building those relationships and ensuring that we have a step change in the number of young people accessing our programme.

We are seeking an Interim CEO for a local charity delivering services to vulnerable people in Bedfordshire to lead the organisation through a period of strategic growth and renewed purpose. This role will be the strategic lead for the charity’s supporter led fundraising activities, leading a dynamic and high performing team working across four areas: Sporting Events and Volunteering, Community & Online Fundraising, Marketing & Engagement and Digital.
The Director will work with the Executive Director of Fundraising and Marketing and fellow department Directors to set and champion a strategy for step-change income and supporter engagement growth at ARUK, ensuring that supporter led fundraising work is integrated across the organisation. You will facilitate multi-disciplinary teams, including across the countries of UK and international teams, to create advocacy and influencing strategies and propositions that maximise our impact and align people and resources around shared priorities.
Essential skills, knowledge, & experience:
- A passion for nature and a drive to change the fate of nature, and a broad understanding of and engagement in current and future environmental issues.
- Credibility within the environment sector and notable expertise in policy and advocacy - with demonstrable expertise across a breadth of subject areas (e.g. at least three of conservation, agriculture, land use, water, forestry, marine, planning, sites, species, casework, economy, energy, climate.)
- Demonstrable experience of influencing UK politics, governments and/or business frameworks at multiple levels and an in-depth understanding influencing tactics and the political context in which change happens.
- Understanding and experience of leading work which builds Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) into the agenda for policy and advocacy work to drive organisational and societal change.
