Eden Brown is extremely proud to be representing Heart Research UK in their search for a CEO to lead and enthuse this innovative organisation. Established in 1967, Heart Research UK is a national charity that inspires, and invests in pioneering medical research, ground-breaking training and education, and in communities to improve their heart health for themselves.
Heart Research UK is a strong brand, in a stable position with the ambition to grow and become a household name. The charity is looking for a new Chief Executive Officer to lead this exciting journey and take the organisation to the next level.
Key responsibilities will include:
Building an effective working relationship with the Board of Trustees
Supplying regular reports to the Board of Trustees and attend trustee and committee meetings
Engaging key stakeholders to prepare a strategic plan on an annual basis and monitor/communicate progress.
Identifying key disrupters to the strategic plan ensuring emergent strategy is realised
Preparing annual budget for approval by the board of trustees
Establish and monitor key indicators of the charity's impact and financial health
Attracting, recruiting and retaining an effective senior management team, monitoring engagement levels
Responding to any management team issues supportively ensuring the correct levels of performance are maintained
Encouraging a creative and forward-thinking culture and ensuring income from all sources including individual, corporate, legacy and trust donations is ethical and sustainable
Building strong relationships with key organisations and institutions
Acting as a spokesperson for the charity and representing it in print, social and broadcast media
Establishing mechanisms for listening to beneficiaries on the charity's performance
This is a pivotal role in the organisation and we would be interested in hearing from people with the following attributes:
Proven leadership qualities (be able to motivate, inspire and lead others)
Strategic critical thinker/planner (analytical and evaluative) with proven financial acumen
Demonstrable track record of leading significant change management, ideally in the context of driving organisations forward from existing positions of strength
Confident and eloquent communicator, and great networker, who can raise HRUK profile and leave a positive lasting impression
Experienced senior manager, working with a Board of Trustees/Directors
High level of Emotional Intelligence and perspective that recognises the context of a situation and can respond appropriately looking at the bigger picture
Culturally aware and can adapt to different environments
Creativity and imagination
