Job description

The Edinburgh International Festival is looking for a Development Assistant to join the Development Team.  We want you to help us present this unparalleled celebration of the performing arts, which brings some of the most exciting and creative artists working today to audiences from around the world.

The Edinburgh International Festival is an equal opportunity employer, and we value diversity. We believe that an inclusive culture is the foundation for a successful workplace, and we strive to grow our diverse representation across our staff, our artists, and our audiences.

We are collecting data to measure the effectiveness of our recruitment methods, to ensure that they are fair. We strive to ensure our opportunities are accessible to people from all backgrounds.

We actively encourage applications from currently under-represented groups. We have identified ethnic minority backgrounds, and disabilities as the key areas we would like to focus our recruitment efforts in.

Our current Development Assistant has been promoted within the Festival, so we’re now recruiting for the newest member of the Development Department. Are you energised by taking on new challenges and learning new skills? Do you enjoy organising events and activities, down to the tiniest detail? Are you always looking for the most effective and efficient way to get your work done and bring others along to achieve success together? If you’re answering “yes” then please apply to join us as our Development Assistant!

“The role of Development Assistant provides a broad perspective of the Development team and wider Edinburgh International Festival - it is therefore a fantastic position for someone to learn and grow within a supportive network. This dynamic role requires a marriage of organisation and creativity and places you at the epicentre of a global celebration of music, theatre, opera and dance. To know that you are a part of the curtain rising for each performance is incredibly rewarding and exciting, even more so if you are a lover of the arts”.   Testimony from current Development Assistant

The Development Assistant role is an excellent first step in your fundraising career, and underpins the work of the entire Development Department.  You do not need experience in our sector, although an enthusiasm for the performing arts, a talent for writing and an aptitude for data organisation would be highly desirable. Training and professional development opportunities will be provided, and flexible work arrangements are possible.
