Job Title: Trust Fundraising Manager

Contract: Permanent, Full-time (35 hours per week)

Location: Anywhere in the UK, we are a remote-first organisation

Our mission is to tirelessly support and champion how parents can participate in education and have their voices heard.  We want to be a powerful force for good in education in the UK that strives to bring homes and schools together for the good of all children and society.  We have ambitious plans to increase our impact and are establishing a central fundraising strategy for the first time.  Therefore, we are looking for an experienced trust fundraiser to play a key role in delivering organisational growth. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our fledgling Fundraising Team and develop a trust fundraising programme from the ground up.  We are looking for someone with experience in raising funds from trusts and foundations, who is an excellent communicator - spoken and written – and who can undertake research to effectively identify appropriate prospects.  You will help to develop our case for support and develop a suite of proposals and reports that will convey to funders what Parentkind does, what the parents and schools we work with want, and how we support them.  Attention to detail is key, as is the ability to manage your time and prioritise your work.

• A minimum of two years of experience in trust fundraising
• Demonstrable success in securing four and five-figure gifts

• Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders at all levels
• Excellent communication skills - strong attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality written applications, and proposals and deliver impactful presentations

About EFA

English for Action provides free, participatory, and empowering English language classes (ESOL) for migrants in London. Our classes are spaces to build community and support students to organise collectively around issues like employment and housing rights. Our work currently supports around 500 adult migrants across London. We’ve become a national centre of good practice for a radical participatory approach to ESOL, informed by the work of Paulo Freire, and we share this approach through trainings, research and partnerships.

Organisational Background

The Council for At-Risk Academics is a UK-registered charity founded in 1933 under the leadership of William Beveridge, to rescue academics suffering persecution under the rise of Nazism and facilitate their continued work in safety. Sixteen Cara Fellows from the 1930s and 1940s became Nobel Laureates, and many more innovators in their fields, including, Nikolaus Pevsner, Lise Meitner and Karl Popper. A number of Cara’s founders and Council members also personally provided places and/or funds to help individual academics; and Cara, known in the 1930s as the AAC, later the SPSL, was closely involved in the successful effort in 1933 to bring to London the Warburg Institute art library, which had been prohibited by the Nazis, and six of its staff. The Fellowship Programme is the continuation of the rescue mission operation started in 1933.

Cara has been a lifeline to academics at risk for just over 90 years, as and when world events have placed them in the line of fire: Hungarian Uprising, Cold War, Apartheid South Africa, Iran, Latin American Juntas, Vietnam, Kosovo, DRC, Rwanda, Sudan, Zimbabwe etc. and, more recently Iraq, Turkey, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. Cara support is typically framed as temporary sanctuary offered at times of heightened risk.

Cara Objectives ‘To assist academics who have been, or are, or are at risk of being, subject to discrimination, persecution, suffering or violence on account of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, to relieve needs among them and their dependants and ensure that their specialist knowledge and abilities can continue to be used for the benefit of the public.’

‘To advance education by supporting academics and their educational institutions in countries where their continuing work is at risk or compromised, to ensure that such academics and institutions can continue to fulfil their critical role as educators for the public benefit.’

This is a critical time to join our dedicated and friendly Fellowship Programme team as we expand our capacity to support at-risk academics from the Middle East, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Russia and many other countries.

Part-time Fellowship Programme Assistant Role & Responsibilities

· Produce a weekly list of payments.

· Produce financial paperwork.

· Schedule Fellows’ placement disbursements on SalesForce (SF) – those having simple funding allocations and support the schedule of more complex funding requests when needed.

· Update disbursement details once paid on a weekly basis.

· Input payments made via our Pleo card to SF and link allocations.

· Update details for new grant requests (funding request status, disbursement details, and relevant allocations) and ongoing requests when needed.

· Support management of Fellowship-related grants (English, hardship, mentoring, small grants).

· Create payments and allocations for opportunities on SF once an award letter has been issued.

· Track invoice status and notify colleagues to initiate the invoicing process.

· Send invoice requests to our bookkeeper and update the relevant opportunities and payments on SF.

· Draft invoices when needed.

· Update opportunities and payments on SF for invoice paid/funding received.

· Analyse data for reporting to stakeholders and donors.

· Assist during the yearly audit.

About The Role

A core strand of The Money Charity’s offering is helping adults in their place of work or in their local community to build the skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours to manage their money well. Our work has never been more needed with the pressures of the cost of living crisis, which whilst having a material impact on many people’s Financial Resilience, has opened up opportunities to talk to people about money and help them engage with their finances at this challenging time.

We do this by partnering with employers and community organisations to deliver a range of interactive Financial Wellbeing Workshops and Webinars to employees, volunteers and service users. The sessions are engaging, interactive and bring the topic of money management to life. We are looking for a new Freelance Consultant to add to our network of Financial Wellbeing specialists who deliver our sessions both in their region and virtually. The successful candidate will deliver Workshops both virtually (primarily via Zoom or Microsoft Teams) and face-to-face. This role will therefore involve a reasonable amount of travel within your region and occasionally more widely across the UK.

This Consultant will deliver both funded (free-of-charge) in Community settings and commercial (paid-for) Workshops in the Workplace. From time to time Consultants may also be used to support the delivery of a range of Financial Wellbeing Consultancy projects which can include, but is not limited to, the development and/or delivery of bespoke Workshops and Webinars.

Key Responsibilities 

Programme Delivery & Development

• Deliver The Money Charity’s Financial Wellbeing sessions in Workplaces and/or adult Community settings in your region and virtually, in accordance with the process and quality standards set out by the charity
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients and host organisations
• Effectively engaging participants by presenting sessions in a clear, concise, creative and engaging manner, ensuring delivery is appropriate to the audience of each setting as far as possible and that learning objectives are met
• Work collaboratively with charity staff to support programme delivery, including administrative and logistical support
• Support the continuous development and innovation of sessions and other programme content by providing feedback to programme teams in an honest and timely manner
• Stay up-to-date with financial products, current events, news and issues and relevant Financial Capability sector developments to ensure knowledge base for delivering high-quality sessions is sustained
• Delivery of Consultancy projects, allocated based on client needs and Consultant capabilities, working with other Consultants and staff of TMC to complete projects as required
• Contribute to the evaluation of Financial Wellbeing sessions and programme activities in collaboration with relevant charity staff and external partners
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date and GDPR compliant data, electronic and paper records for monitoring programme activities as required

• Support activities that contribute to the growth and sustainability of the charity as directed

Person Specification

Experience & Qualifications

• Experience delivering training to groups of young people and/or adults in a professional or voluntary capacity
• A minimum of A-C GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
• Experience of working with adults in more vulnerable circumstances (desirable); and/or
• Experience working in the financial services sector (desirable)
• Experience of partnering with community and corporate organisations (desirable)

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Fundraising Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the Income and Partnerships Development team. This person will be reporting to the Head of Partnerships and will coordinate all fundraising activities and volunteers from our alumni, sponsor firms and SEO London supporters. This will be a hands-on role that includes project management, teamwork, reporting and a proactive approach to fundraising initiatives. Additionally, responsibilities include the preparation of cases for support for funding applications and providing guidance for proposal drafting. Furthermore, the role involves maintaining and reporting on funding requirements, encompassing impact reports, milestones, and renewals. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Further Develop and Implement Fundraising Strategies: Work closely with the Head of Partnerships to further develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies. Execute fundraising plans to achieve income targets and ensure long-term sustainability.
• Grant Writing and Proposal Development: Research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, government organisations and other donor oganisations. Prepare grant expressions of interest, proposals and applications that effectively communicate the need for our work and SEO London’s mission, programmes, and impact.
• Fundraising Events Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, including F1 challenges, Royal Parks Half Marathon and any other fundraising activities. Oversee all aspects of event logistics, marketing, sponsorship, and volunteer coordination.
• Fundraising Volunteers Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of volunteer interactions and contributions using excel and other tools. Volunteers to include sponsor firm reps, alumni, our students and other SEO London supporters. Generate reports and analytics to track fundraising progress and campaign effectiveness.
• Reporting: Maintain meticulous records of all funder reporting obligations and milestones, ensuring accurate documentation and timely submissions of reports. Accurately recording and tracking donor contributions, pledges, and grants received.
• Marketing and communication: Work closely with the marketing and communication team to raise awareness of fundraising activities through campaigns on social media and other marketing campaigns. 
• Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with programmes leads, finance team, marketing  and alumni team, to engage firm volunteers, alumni, students and SEO London staff to have a big splash as to our fundraising activity. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, business administration, or a related field. 

Candidates without a degree will be considered if they have at least 2 years relevant and relatable work experience in a similar role. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for applicants who have at least 2 years demonstrable experience in some of the following areas and will be willing to learn and develop others: 

• Experience in fundraising, grant writing or related roles within the nonprofit sector. 
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including accurate and persuasive writing and presentation skills. 
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software tools such as Salesforce. 
• Knowledge of fundraising best practices, processes, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
