Main Areas of Responsibility
Your responsibilities will include:
- The preparation of monthly management accounts for the Federation head office departments
- Preparing and monitoring head office budgets, ensuring no overspends
- Providing financial advice to budget holders preparing funding bids and business cases
- Head Office accounting, including month end reviews
- Meeting regularly with budget holders to assist in their budget management and stay up to date with activities
- Preparing year end papers and supporting schedules for head office activities
- Liaising with the Internal Audit team and External auditors
- Assisting with various ESFA/DFR submissions and audits
- Reconciliation and review of monthly inter-academy recharges
- Assisting the Financial Controller with treasury management, manage cash flow, funding and capital expenditure
- Monitoring the receipt and spend of donations across the Federation
- Review of monthly journals (e.g. prepayments, deferred income, academy recharges)
- Identifying and evaluating opportunities for improving value for money
What We are Looking For
We would like to hear from you if you have:
- CCAB qualification
- Recent and relevant continued professional development
- Proven experience of preparing monthly budgets and providing meaningful commentary on management account variances
- Finance experience and commercial skills encompassing budgeting and planning, stakeholder management, strong financial and management information analysis skills and the ability to disseminate timely, accurate and relevant reports to key stakeholders

The role
You will be supporting the Finance Team for CIPD and a key player tasked with producing accurate financial data to enable effective decision-making across the business.
What you’ll be doing
- Using accounting system to process and manage financial transactions related to CIPD UK and CIPD Enterprises and potentially other entities within the group. Posting transactions and month end journals in NetSuite including prepayments, accruals and revenue deferrals.
- Day to day accounting activities include managing transactions in the ledger, ensuring coding is accurate and adjusting miscoding before the month end to minimise time it takes to close the month.

As a Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting our organization's financial management. Your responsibilities will include preparing financial reports, analysing data, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. - Capital Projects and Payroll:
- Contribute to capital projects.
- Assist with payroll-related tasks.

Are you a proactive Finance Officer wanting to work with a charity?
We are proud to be partnering with a great international organisation that aims to improve education. They deliver exceptional educational programmes to diverse students across the world to drive a better future. They are looking for a Part-time Finance Officer to support the implementation of an accounting system for 3 months on temporary basis, 2 days a week (15 hours a week) in their Central London office.
Working closely with the finance team, you will support the implementation of the Business Central accounting system, including testing, posting invoices, donations, and other day-to-day booking transactions. Once they go live, you will assist with a range of tasks, including posting and processing data, recording payments, general bookkeeping, invoicing, reconciliations, and backlogs.
This role requires financial acumen and experience of using Microsoft Dynamics Business Central. Knowledge and experience of jet reporting and Gift Aid are desirable. The successful candidate will be a responsible and collaborative team player with have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. They will also have strong IT skills.

Role Summary
We are looking for someone who thrives on diving into financial details while also possessing the capability to step back, produce comprehensive reporting, and collaborate effectively with wider team members.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting:

Performing the month-end process and producing Monthly reports for the MD and wider teams.

Assisting with producing reporting for Grant Reporting.

Assisting the MD with Budget and Cashflow Reporting.

Compiling Data for Year End Accounts and Audit.
-
Liaising with Accountants and Auditors during the year-end process.
Transactional Processing:
-
Using Dext/Hubdoc and Xero to post purchases to Xero.

Compiling Banking Runs from Xero and inputting them into online banking for monthly banking runs approval.
-
Reconciling bank accounts.
-
Checking Employee Expense Claims and posting them to Xero for payment.
-
Raising Sales Invoices (Requests For Payment), and Credit Notes.

Monitoring Late Payment of Requests For Payment and collaborating with wider team members to bring in overdue amounts.
Donor Management and Compliance:

Producing Receipts for Donors and Annual Donor Statements.

Updating the CRM system for payments from Donors.

Running and checking Gift Aid Reporting to HMRC.

Maintaining up-to-date Finance Procedure Documentation.

Attendance (virtually as needed) at Team Meetings and Events.
Skills and Competencies
-
ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualification or qualified by experience.

Strong attention to detail with an ability to analyse and interpret financial data.

Proficiency in financial reporting, able to present complex information.
-
Excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively with both finance and non-finance team members.
-
Strong organisational skills, with an ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

Proficient in using financial software and systems, particularly Xero.
-
Competent in Excel and Google Sheets.
-
Ability to maintain up-to-date financial procedure documentation.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential:

Minimum 1+ years of experience using Xero for bookkeeping, VAT returns, and report production.

Familiarity with standard accounting practices and principles.
-
Experience in performing month-end processes and reconciliations.
-
Proven ability to compile banking runs and manage online banking tasks.
Desirable:
-
Experience in working with charity funds, including restricted, unrestricted, and designated funds.

Knowledge of VAT complexities such as Reverse Charge, TOMS, and monitoring VAT thresholds.

Familiarity with dealing with intergroup transactions.
-
Proven ability in identifying and implementing improvements in financial systems, including cross-team collaboration.

Experience in educating and assisting non-financial team members in understanding financial systems.
-
Knowledge of Gift Aid reporting to HMRC.
Amazing but not essential (training provided):

Experience with US financial reporting, including 1099 and 990 reporting, and US Annual Returns.

Knowledge of tax treatment for employee benefits and compiling data for PSA and P11Ds.
