Our Team Members are involved in every aspect of life on the farm and the farm is firmly embedded in the local community with Team Members providing gardening services to local people as well as volunteering on the Sandon Estate

 We are looking for a Chief Officer who will be responsible for the day to day running of the farm as well as working with the Trustees to take the charity forwards.  The successful candidate will have experience of working with adults with learning disabilities, will have skills in finance, management and IT, and will enjoy working in a busy environment where there are changing demands and priorities throughout the day.

Competencies and Qualifications:

1. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
2. Experience in financial operations, preferably within a charity or NGO setting.
3. Preferably progressing towards/has recognised accountancy qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ICAEW)
4. Understanding of UK financial regulations and tax laws, with specific knowledge of VAT and GiftAid advantageous.
5. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
6. Effective communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with both finance and non-finance colleagues.
7. elf-motivated with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

In support of our national vision and strategy, the Church of England has a small central Leadership Development Team (LDT) currently comprising of seven staff posts. Through this team we invest significantly in the learning and development of senior leaders and the development of a diverse range of potential future leaders. • As the team leader, nurture a flourishing Leadership Development Team in which the gifts of all team members can be developed and deployed in support of the work entrusted to the team.

How you will make a difference

As Business Development and Engagement Manager within the Workplace Mental Health & Training team, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth, partnerships, and engagement from corporate and community settings for both Mental Health UK and Rethink Mental Illness. You will work to secure funding from a wide range of sources, including commercial activity, public sector contracts and grant funding, to allow our work to continue and grow.

Working in our National Programmes team, you will ensure that we evaluate, plan for and respond effectively to bids and tenders, lead on the development of proposals, and support service delivery teams in implementing successful tenders/proposals. You will manage a Senior Business Development Officer who supports our work in positioning the organisation to respond to new bids and tenders and, where required, support the implementation of new services.

This new role will work across varied charity management projects to help set up a new UK office for a fast growing medical INGO that has already treated over 13 million patients across Africa!

It will include leading on a broad range of projects that support the set up and management of the UK registered office and will require working autonomously while being part of an experienced and supportive team. Role Context

ALIMA UK is in its start-up phase and is made up of a small team. This period is exciting at times unpredictable.  We need someone reliable who enjoys and has a proven track record of leading and delivering on operational projects for a business or charity while working with senior stakeholders. They should be a highly organised self-starter who is able to work autonomously and lead on projects as well as a great team player.

The role is varied and has a significant financial element, so strong numerical skills and good written communication skills are both important as well as a flexible, responsible approach. Ideally they will also have experience of, and good knowledge of, the charity sector in the UK.

This role is posted as a one year contract as the needs of the business are changing as the organisation develops. At the end of the year the needs of ALIMA will be reviewed and there may be scope to further shape the role, depending on the needs of the business and funding available at the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

 FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Skills, Experience & Knowledge

• Experience working for a UK-based charity in an administrative, executive support, finance, fundraising or project management role 
• Strong project management skills: a track record of successfully driving small to medium-sized projects
• Strong numerical skills, including experience reporting on or managing budgets, producing management accounts or equivalent
• Excellent verbal and written English language skills 
• Excellent organisational skills: Ability to plan, prioritise and manage a varied and demanding workload to meet deadlines
• Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders including Senior level staff, donors and volunteers
• Knowledge and understanding of fundraising in the UK charity sector

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the National Housing Federation (NHF) for an interim Head of Business Development. We are looking for someone who can effectively manage and grow our existing commercial relationships and who can also lead on a thorough review of our current approach to Business Development in the run up to the NHF’s next three year business strategy due to start from April 2025.
Our Business Development team generates commercial income through partnerships with commercial companies who want to access our members. The team ensure that companies we partner with deliver services and products that are relevant to our members’ business needs, and that they share our ethos. The Business Development team is also responsible for negotiating deals with companies to provide support and services to members free of charge as a benefit of the NHF membership.

The successful candidate:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
• Experience and understanding of setting a commercial strategy, aligning income targets with overall business strategy and priorities.

• Experience in a management role of identifying, developing and successfully bringing to market large scale new products and services.
•         Exceptional negotiation skills and an ability to manage complex commercial and wider relationships as well as knowledge of the full account management process.
• Experience of formulating and implementing changes to ways of working at departmental and organisational level.
• Experience of financial management – budget setting, forecasting, monitoring costs, ROI models and delivering, or exceeding, budgets.
• In-depth knowledge of effective marketing strategy and practice, including the impact of digital opportunities.
• An understanding of delivering commercial activities within a not-for-profit membership organisation.

You would be delivering information, advice, guidance, and bespoke support along with peer learning and training as appropriate on the legal, income generation, technical and good practice aspects of running a VCS organisation.

About you

You will have extensive knowledge of the voluntary and community sector (VCS) and an awareness of the changing environment for local communities and voluntary organisations and the challenges they face covering the Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole area.

As a people person with great interpersonal skills, you’ll be able to build and maintain excellent professional relationships delivering bespoke support, which enables the local VCS to fulfil their missions more effectively, improve performance and governance and become stronger, safer, and more sustainable.

Responsibilities:

• Support the start-up of new VCS organisations, including advice on appropriate structures and any appropriate registrations.
• Identify strengths and weaknesses in management/governance in VCS groups and provide advice to address, in particular trustee roles and responsibilities, business/strategic planning, project planning, evidencing impact, evaluation and monitoring, safeguarding.
• Advise, and support organisations on different sources of funding and which are relevant to their needs including grants, trading, contracts, donors, etc.
• To enable organisations to develop appropriate documentation. To produce model documents in plain language, in particular health and safety, data protection and environmental policies
• To provide organisation specific advice and information by telephone, email and one to one advice sessions (inn person and virtual)
• To design, organise and, if appropriate, deliver training events, webinars, lunch time seminars, meetings, events, and conferences for VCS organisations as required.
• Contribute to the development of tools and resources for defining and supporting the organisational development needs of small and medium sized VCS groups
• To ensure the provision of advice and information through the website, on demand webinars, newsletters, special briefing supplements, etc.
• Be understanding and be particularly supportive to VCS groups who face additional barriers in accessing support and in applying advice and learning
• Encouraging and facilitating the sharing of skills and resources between VCS organisations.
• Work and liaise with others contracted to provide support services to the VCS in the BCP area.
• To maintain effective networks and working relationships with appropriate individuals and agencies.
• Refer organisations to other specialised support and advice agencies as appropriate.
• Promote the role and needs of the sector to stakeholders when appropriate
