About Us

Elays Network is a multi-faceted community organisation that aims to engage, educate and empower communities who have become disengaged and marginalised from accessing the help and support they need. We support our local community through our three main focus; 

 

  1. Education & Training 

  2. Health & Wellbeing and,

  3. Advice & Advocacy 

 

Elays Network is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to work closely with our team to facilitate the Health & Wellbeing programme among our community, specifically supporting adults and elderly members. Reporting to the director, the Community Engagement Coordinator will support achieving the outcomes of the externally funded Health & Wellbeing programme through the coordination and delivery of Elays Adult projects that consist of education and training, health and well-being and advice and advocacy - with specific focus on the impact of Covid- 19 and vaccination uptake. 

 

The aim of this post will be to support our director in building work that:

  • Improves the engagement with public health and local authority initiatives, by setting up workshops with the public health and community both involved in the design of the project. 

  • Keeps the community involved - this work will be focusing on creating written and visual materials that will benefit the community and dispel myths about Covid- 19 and vaccines.

  • Reflects on the pandemic - we want to gather stories and experiences from the community about the impact of covid-19 on them and create bridges between the community and public health on how they can best be supported. 

  • Keeps the community informed by creating platforms for communities to get the right information about Covid-19, new restrictions and most importantly Covid-19 vaccination related topics. 

  • improves the lives of our local community through health and wellbeing workshops and campaigns  to help families stay healthy and fit. Advocacy and advice support, by creating useful materials alongside our advisor which will support families who are really struggling throughout this pandemic. 

 

The project will offer:

  • an opportunity to be involved in becoming ambassadors within the community- ensuring our community stays supported throughout the pandemic and its aftermath. 

  • an opportunity to work alongside the public health and Elays Network in building projects for their needs with their voices in the fabric of the project plan. 

  • an opportunity to learn about the facts about the virus and vaccine and to be able to identify myths.

  • Workshops, materials and support provided for the communities that need them the most keeping them digitally connected, informed and involved with how information is spread and created in the local community. 


This a very proactive and balanced role, aiding both delivered at our centre and in local restaurants, coffee shops, masjids/mosques - spaces the community have created and manage themselves. This programme will be supporting our Health & Wellbeing objectives and will work in partnership with Wandsworth Council, the NHS and other agencies. Elays Network  particularly welcomes applications from individuals who speak somali as a first/second language.
