Job description

To develop, grow and inspire philanthropic giving, including donations from major donors, managing and overseeing individual donations of four to six-figure gifts. Lead on developing our newly-formed annual giving club – the Brighter Futures Community.

Working with our Trusts and Grants Fundraiser to cultivate, steward and manage a portfolio of Trusts and Foundations as well as seeking grants from new funders to grow the charity’s income.

Establish, launch, and manage a small scale, Mid-Value Giving programme from our current supporter base, stewarding donors through their supporter journeys in a personalised and bespoke way. This will be a new area of focus, so will need an innovative and enthusiastic approach to manage a small number of donors, with a long-term aim and plan of increasing.

Explore Legacy giving with the view of ensuring we are looking after small number of current pledges and bringing a longer-term strategic aim of establishing a Legacy Giving Programme in the future.

Support wider fundraising and Trust teams when needed, working closely to support the Fundraising Manager throughout the year.

What we are looking for
As a new role within the Trust, this is an exciting opportunity for a professional fundraiser to work within the wider fundraising team to develop existing and successful income streams, as well as establish new income opportunities in Mid-Value and Legacies in a way not previously explored.

We are looking for someone who has fundraising experience and proven success in a similar role, with a track record of successfully dealing with individuals and grant makers to secure high value gifts. We would love to hear from candidates who are passionate about fundraising and supporting the Trust’s strategic ambition to help to rebuild young lives after cancer.

Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust
The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is a national charity that empowers young people aged 8-24 to embrace their future after cancer. When treatment ends the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust’s work begins, as for many young people picking up where they left off before their diagnosis isn’t possible.

Through the Trust’s sailing and adventure trips, young people are empowered as they make friends with others who have been through the same thing, rediscover their independence and learn new skills. Most importantly, they stop feeling like the ‘only one’. They discover a future they might never have thought was possible.

This is an incredible chance to be part of a passionate, motivated, and collaborative team and to play an integral role in helping to change the lives of young people in recovery from cancer.

You will also help drive our three strategic Ambitions to:

  • Make meaningful connections with more young people
  • Secure a diverse and robust income stream
  • Improve the impact of our work

An exciting time to join, this new role will support successful and long-standing Trust and Grant income, as well as establishing and creating new opportunities for Major Donor and Mid-Value income and laying foundations for future Legacy fundraising.
