Job description

The Legacies and Guardians Manager is a new role within the Private Philanthropy team, responsible for securing new Guardians (donors at the £1,000 - £10,000 level) and legacy pledgers. This is a wonderful opportunity for a confident fundraiser to develop and shape these essential fundraising streams for the charity.

The Legacies and Guardians Manager will play an important role within the Private Philanthropy team, working closely with colleagues across the Development Department but also the wider charity.

The Legacies and Guardians Manager will secure new Guardians and legacy pledgers through a mixture of direct mail, events and face to face meetings. Direct mail activity is delivered by the Campaigns team in the EH Marketing Department, with whom the postholder will work closely to conceive, plan and deliver mailings. They will have overall responsibility for the strategic direction of the programmes, but will be supported the Development Assistant with event delivery and administration.

The Development Department culture is collaborative and service-oriented, and values transparency, flexibility, trustworthiness, tenacity, energy, and the ability to act as an ambassador for the office and the wider charity.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record in relationship-led fundraising, perhaps through experience gained managing a patrons scheme or similar. Legacy experience is not essential, but would be highly advantageous. S/he will have outstanding relationship management skills, and be adept at communicating with a variety of audiences. S/he will be tenacious and proactive and possess the credibility and confidence to influence at the highest level. The successful candidate will also be motivated by the opportunity to shape and grow a new role for the charity. Please note that this is not a direct marketing post.
