Job description

Location: Flexible - Homeworking or based in our London office or one of our regional offices with regular travel to the London office.

The Senior Digital Manager role provides opportunities to visit spectacular heritage sites, engage with English Heritage teams across departments, and build valuable knowledge and expertise of working on world-class digital interpretive content for the museums and heritage sector. The post-holder will also be a key member of the Learning and Interpretation Department, which aims to create inspiring, engaging and dynamic interpretation for people across England, ensuring the Stories of England remain relevant and engaging for generations to come.

You'll be line-managed by the Head of Learning and Interpretation and work closely with colleagues from every division within English Heritage, including Learning, Interpretation, Historians, Curators, Conservation, Gardens, Content Marketing, Social Media, Development and IT.

You will line manage a close-knit team of three Digital Content Editors and one Kickstart Digital Content Assistant.

The Senior Digital Manager leads English Heritage's Curatorial Digital Team. The team is responsible for digitally interpreting English Heritage's sites, collections, research and the work of our experts. Content is produced primarily for English Heritage's online estate, including website, apps, and multimedia channels, but the role also advises and, where appropriate, collaborates on elements of on-site digital interpretation.

The Senior Digital Manager develops and delivers the Curatorial Digital Content Strategy, identifying user needs, business priorities and key opportunities to ensure that content is designed in a user-centric manner that showcases the best that English Heritage has to offer and enhances the experience of our online and on site visitors.

We strive to be an inclusive employer and are always looking for people who reflect the diversity of the country today, to help us make it more relevant to the diversity of the people, communities and places we serve. We continually look for new ways to promote the past in a way that is inclusive to all and that celebrates the cultural diversity of England's heritage.

From remote sites to inner city monuments, from regional teams to our Head Office, the diversity of our teams is critical to making sure our shared heritage is inclusive, exciting and accessible.

You'll find it's a workplace like no other - taking you behind the scenes of these extraordinary sites and supporting you to share your ideas, inspire others and make a difference.

By joining us, you'll enjoy the rewards of a great team environment in inspiring locations, helping to make our site a wonderful place to visit. You'll also be joining our charity, which through our 400+ historic monuments, buildings and sites, brings the story of England to life for over 10 million visitors each year. We offer a competitive benefits package including a generous pension, 25 days leave a year and free entry to all English Heritage properties for you, another adult and up to 6 children (under the age of 19).

Interviews will be held over Zoom on Thursday 18 November 2021. Due to the limited availability of the interview panel it may not be possible to make alternative arrangements.
