Key Responsibilities

Spear Programme

• Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work
• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees. This includes running application workshops with past Trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics.

Relationship management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations
• You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre

Church Community

• The Spear Coach is directly employed by Citizen Church, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community

The Role of Safeguarding Administrator

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Coventry Diocesan Safeguarding team as a Safeguarding Administrator.

You will be located with a partner organisation rooted in one of four locations across the UK, Nottingham, Greater Manchester, Lambeth, and Newham. You will bring community organising into the work of the organisation and place it right at the centre of the Power to Prosper programme.

Power to Prosper is a partnership project between The Runnymede Trust and New Economics Foundation aimed at tackling the underlying causes of poverty, inequality, and problem debt in the United Kingdom. The project recognises that the existing economic system leads to profound inequalities that disproportionately impact marginalised groups, including Black and minority ethnic communities, single-parent families, and households with disabled members. The programme will also take an intersectional lens with a strong emphasis on race equity.

This work will involve working with NEF and Runnymede teams to listen to people about the causes and potential solutions of inequality, poverty, and problem debt and to equip people that are most impacted with the skills to act together at a local, regional, and national level to address those issues. The successful candidate will report to a Community Organiser. The post sits in the Campaigns and Engagement Team at the New Economics Foundation, and you will work closely with colleagues at the Runnymede Trust. You must have a demonstrable commitment to anti-racism and have a track record of working with impacted groups with a good understanding of the wider context that causes inequality.

The Assistant Conservation & Engagement Ranger is a 9-month funded placement opportunity for the chance to gain experience working alongside our Smithills Estate team including the site communications and engagement teams. The role will help deliver nature recovery at the landscape scale in an upland/urban fringe setting, engaging and benefitting the local community.

The types of activities you might be involved in include: 
•    Support the Engaging Communities Officer in delivering events, guided walks, workshops, and task days for local community groups and volunteers.
•    Helping us build on our youth activity
•    Working closely with the Site Manager, Assistant Site Manager, and volunteers on practical tasks across the site from woodland creation to restoration. 
•    You will also assist the events and communications officer in creating content for our three social media channels

This is a site-based role at Smithills, Bolton. The role will have a dedicated desk space and all necessary equipment.

The British Dyslexia Association (BDA) is a charity that represents the voice of people living with dyslexia. We aim to influence government and other institutions to promote a dyslexia friendly society that enables dyslexic people of all ages to reach their full potential.

This is an exciting new role for the BDA, which has been created with the purpose of recruiting, managing and supporting regional volunteers, leading specific outreach to groups impacted and disadvantaged by dyslexia and resulting life circumstances. This is a varied hands-on role that would suit a skilled volunteering professional, who will use their knowledge of volunteering best practice and experience to help us create the future for outreach volunteering at the BDA.

Location

Hounslow Young People is Supported Accommodation Service for young people and young parents aged 16-25 in Hounslow. The Service encompasses a mix of units across six sites supporting 57 vulnerable young people and 19 teen parents. The aim of the service is to empower Young People to move towards independent living, supporting their successful transition from childhood; laying the foundations for healthy, ambitious, and safe adult lives with minimal ongoing support. Support is delivered in partnership with a number of stakeholders and partners in the community such as mental health services; substance misuses agencies, housing teams, police and social services. We are recruiting Waking Night Support Workers to join our dynamic service and team. In the role of Waking Night Support Worker; individuals will ensure continues support is provided to young people at the standards of day staff with particular focus on safety of vulnerable young people.

Waking Night Support Worker will work in line with person centred risk assessments; support plans and liaise with Support Workers to provide comprehensive handover and partnership working. They will be observant of changes in behaviour and presentations ensuring appropriate actions are taken to document and report changes in support needs of young people. Waking Night Support Worker will be able to carry out all necessary health and safety actions including light cleaning tasks and environment management. Furthermore they will actively seek out ways to work with the team and stakeholders to improve the experience of young people in the service. The role requires individuals to work on a rota pattern including weekend and bank holiday working, as the service is open 365 days a year. Hours worked: 21:30 - 07:30.

What you'll do:

Ensure the welfare of customers providing emotional and practical support to customers who are in distress, in crisis or require medical assistance such as emergency first aid or the intervention of medical professionals.
Remain calm and professional when dealing with emergencies and incidents following the reporting procedures and completing the required paperwork.
Ability to work empathically and compassionately with customers who present with complex needs such as mental health, substance misuse, safeguarding and physical health support needs.

Membership

• Sending renewal notices – email and letter
• Processing renewal payments using Xero
• Updating membership records using CiviCRM  
• Preparing and submitting the Gift Aid claim monthly
• Answering membership email queries
• Preparing and sending out new member packs

General

• Helping at events
• Processing book orders when needed
• Managing stationery and supplies
• General office support

Skills and experience required

• Data processing experience and aptitude
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent organisational skills 
• Experienced and confident in Excel or similar
• Good communication skills - both written and oral

Personal characteristics required

• Ability to work independently
• A motivated self-starter 
• Comfortable working with a small team in a small office

Desirable but not essential

• Educated to degree level or similar
• Book keeping or accounting experience
• Familiarity with Xero and CRM systems
• Having an understanding of or interest in infertility and/or families created with help of some kind (eg adoption/IVF/donor conception)
