As the Poppy Appeal Manager in Central London, your main role is to achieve income, expenditure, and contribution targets, ensuring the success of the appeal. Collaborating with the Regional Poppy Appeal Manager, you will create and manage an income and expenditure budget, providing monthly commentary. Your responsibilities include to coordinating local supporters, partners, and volunteers, building relationships to maximise fundraising potential.

A distinctive aspect of this role lies in the unique Poppy Appeal activity. Beyond managing relationships and budgets, you'll recruit and induct new Poppy Appeal Organisers, ensuring they have the tools and resources for success. Planning and coordinating the Poppy Appeal launch, including PR and media activities, contribute to the appeal's overall impact.

Your role also involves representing Royal British Legion locally, engaging in outreach activities, and providing updates to key stakeholders. Flexibility is essential, as some evenings, weekends, and overnight stays may be required. The successful candidate will embody the values of the Royal British Legion, demonstrating empathy with its mission and objectives.

The ideal candidate will possess commercial knowledge, financial management skills, and experience in supporter relationship management. Strong planning, organizational, and IT skills are necessary, as is the ability to assess the commercial implications of decisions. The role demands a team player who can engage with diverse client groups, showcasing effective communication skills both in writing and verbally.

Oaklands & St Kilda is a pair of 6 unit supported accommodation mental health rehab services working with young people between the ages of 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health-related hospital admission to gain and develop skills for future independent living. The service will support individuals transitioning from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult services.

The service forms part of a pair of services supporting up to 12 individuals at any one time across the sites, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for young people across London on a spot purchase basis.

The Challenge

Social mobility in the UK is still far from a reality: disadvantaged pupils are less likely to attend university/ high level apprenticeships, occupy top jobs and improve their standard of living over their parents than their peers. The divide has become even clearer since Covid-19.

The gap between most advantaged and least advantaged pupils’ employment and higher education destinations remains vast - and this leads to real-life consequences. There is still much more to be done.

As an award-winning, fast-moving charity our mission is to support young people from disadvantaged communities to identify and fulfil their potential. Working in partnership with schools, universities, and employers, we deliver academic and pastoral coaching programmes that improve pupils’ confidence, resilience, and independence, as well as their attainment.

With a recently written three-year strategy, and a new Chief Executive, we’re at anexciting stage of development and have ambitious plans to continue improving our im- pact and reach. This academic year, we are planning on supporting over 2,000 pupils across our three regional teams: London, the South East and the West Midlands.

Role description

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to enhance our work across London, where we have very strong existing school and university partnerships.

You will primarily be responsible for delivering our academic coaching programmes to pupils in both Primary and Secondary Schools across your region, and other regions when required. Typically we run programmes between the months of October-December, and February-June, where regular travel to schools in the region will be required.

As a Programme Officer you will also recruit, train and manage volunteers (typically current undergraduates from universities in your region), deliver in-school and online workshops, and contribute to the overall development of the region.

You will be delivering programmes in schools and with volunteers can be challenging, with every day looking a little different from the last. But it is ultimately extremely rewarding! You will flourish in this role if you enjoy thinking quickly, responding to challenges, and using your own initiative to get great outcomes for young people.

One of our core values at CoachBright is that ‘we believe coaching is transformative’. A coaching approach underpins everything we do from our programmes to the way we work with each other. As a result, every team member undertakes training to become an accredited coach, and becomes part of our Lifecycle coaching team, where we provide direct, 1:1 coaching to current university students and junior employees of our corporate partners. Once accredited you will have the opportunity to coach as part of this programme. 

Role Description

The London Programme Officer will be responsible for:

Programme coordination and delivery: 

• Coordinate and run multiple in-school and online programmes (core and peer to peer) across the region and, when required, in other regions.

• Set timelines for programme start and finish dates. 

• Visit schools to oversee programme quality and communicate with school staff  weekly to provide feedback after sessions. 

• Facilitate in-school or digital workshops for groups of pupils (typically KS3-5). 

• Plan and organise graduation trips to a local university for pupils on the programme.

• Coordinate and allocate coaches to school programmes, communicating with  them weekly and when needed arranging transport for them to schools.

• Collect data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, such as pre and post programme questionnaires, attendance records, and pupil and coach feedback.

• Report regularly to your Head of Region on key performance indicators and  programme updates.

• Contribute to the development of the region by supporting the Head of Region in generating new school leads and securing programmes. 

• Support a strong and supportive network of schools, Multi-Academy Trusts  (MATs).

• Build and maintain relationships with coaches, pupils and teachers. 

• Once accredited as a coach, coach on our Lifecycle programmes. 

Volunteer recruitment and management:

• Recruit and retain volunteer coaches (meeting minimum requirements set  termly). 

• Deliver coach training to volunteers in person and online. 

• Create a thriving community of social mobility advocates among university  students and young professionals. 

• Work with your Head of Region to develop and maintain  relationships with Universities, corporate partners and others.

• When required, lead on, and contribute to, projects that will positively impact the organisation as a whole.

Essential characteristics and experience: 

• Passion for social mobility: we have big aims and are looking for those who share our desire to make education fairer in the UK, so a person’s background does not determine their future.

• Relationship building and facilitating: this is a public-facing role so you will love  delivering workshops to groups as well as communicating our mission to a wide range of stakeholders (businesses, senior members of MATs, universities etc.)

• Organisation: working in a fast paced organisation you’ll be able to work between different programmes and workstreams.

• Independence: this role requires you to work independently/alone from time to time in the office and/or from home.

• Resourcefulness: we’re a small, dedicated team - you must be a self-starter prepared for practical roles with lots of responsibility. A willingness to stay solution-focused with last minute challenges is a must!

• Experience with young people: Comfortable with running sessions and delivering workshops to groups of young people from age 8-18.

• Valid driver’s licence and access to your own vehicle: The role requires frequent travel to schools and universities across the region.

Desirable knowledge/experience:

• Experience recruiting volunteers.

• Experience measuring and evaluating impact.

• Knowledge of programme design, pedagogy or tutoring/coaching.

The Fundraising Co-Ordinator will raise the profile and awareness of Young Bristol and working with the Head of Fundraising develop a fundraising work plan to qualify and develop a range of key funding streams. The Fundraising Co-Ordinator will raise the profile and awareness of Young Bristol and working with the Head of Fundraising develop a fundraising work plan to qualify and develop a range of key funding streams. The post holder will help to develop and ensure the effective delivery of the fundraising plan in line with Young Bristol’s strategy. The role will be multi faceted involving Grants, Trusts and Foundations, Community fundraising, Corporate fundraising, Legacy fundraising, Events and High Value fundraising.

The role will work collaboratively to explore ideas and launch new initiatives helping Young Bristol achieve our mission, playing an important part in helping us to meet our fundraising targets and increasing participation and community engagement in our events and fundraising activities.

About the Role

This role is an exciting opportunity to work for Mind BLMK as part of the Fundraising & Engagement Team. Acting as the first point of contact for all Fundraising & Comms enquiries and in line with Mind BLMK’s Fundraising and Communications Strategy, this is a busy role and will require excellent stewardship and donor care skills as well as meticulous organisation and innovative thinking. As an Ambassador for Mind BLMK, you will need to have a passion for mental health and an ability to operate at all levels.

The successful applicant will generate income and support all aspects of communication and marketing, to help to maximise local support, raise awareness of our work in the community, and by providing exceptional supporter stewardship, in line with Mind BLMK’s Fundraising and Communication strategy.

Key Duties

• Act as the first point of contact for all fundraising enquiries and provide stewardship and donor care for Mind BLMK’s individual givers, corporates, groups, volunteers and other supporters of the charity, in line with the fundraising strategy.
• Act as first point of contact for all marketing, PR and event enquiries.
• Send donors bespoke information and materials to support their fundraising at Mind BLMK.
• Ensure supporter interaction points (telephone, post, email) adhere to the highest standard.
• Support existing and develop new partnerships with corporates, organisations, and individuals, to support income growth.
• Develop and maintain relationships with philanthropists and encourage legacy giving.
• Help with the co-ordination of fundraising volunteers, as requested or as appropriate.
• Help to identify and develop potential areas of fundraising growth and process improvements, in line with the Fundraising Strategy and supporting net income growth.
• Write and send outgoing thank you letters to all income streams.
• Help maintain an up-to-date and accurate supporter database, finance log and fundraising and communications materials.
• Support the implementation of marketing strategies and targeted campaigns; plan, develop, and ensure the production of multi-media communications, PR, and marketing materials and compelling stories.
• Work closely with external organisations in order to raise awareness of services available locally and increase access to provision for individuals across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

We are an ambitious Hospital charity with an exciting opportunity to join us on our team as a Fundraising Assistant, initially on a three month contract with potential to extend. 

We currently raise between £1-2m a year for East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust which has four sites local to Hertfordshire, including the Lister Hospital (Stevenage) and Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (North London). About you

Ideally you will already have experience in an administration or customer service role and looking to start a career in fundraising. You will be looking for 20-37.5 hours a week and can work flexibly including some evenings and weekends to support at fundraising events. 

Main duties of the job

• Provide support to the department on a range of administrative tasks including, dealing with enquiries (postal, telephone, email, face to face), opening and sorting post.
• Work to build excellent relationships with donors to provide a high standard of customer care.
• Process one-off and regular donations ensuring procedures are followed and information is recorded correctly onto the database and thank you letters are sent.
• Work with cancer centre volunteers to support the team with administration tasks.
• To undertake specific fundraising projects and attend events as necessary or as required to support the department’s fundraising.
• To assist the fundraisers with administration of staff lottery, raffles and prize led promotion and fundraising as required.
• Support all fundraising activity and represent the charity at internal and external events.
• Manage ‘Gift in Kind’ donations and our ‘Gift in Kind’ Campaigns.
