You will work closely with our Community Impact Lead to support both the delivery and the development of our community work. The Community Impact work at Resource Futures is an important part of our business; it captures a number of long-term projects which are at the heart of our company. These include Community RePaint, Community Action Groups Devon, Community Action Groups Somerset, the Fixy project, the Gloucestershire Real Nappy Project and more.

What you will be doing

• Project delivery: Getting involved in project delivery, such as foundational research for project development and delivering workshops.
• Project management: Overseeing the effective delivery of projects, including reporting, and supporting the planning and set up of new projects as they come online.
• Innovation and Development: Supporting us to improve and expand our projects and programmes. You will also assist in identifying new projects or funding opportunities and contribute to the preparation of funding proposals. This may involve exploring options for the governance structure of this area of work.
• Marketing and communications: Promoting our projects, developing our external communications and acting as an ambassador for our community work.
• Monitoring and evaluation: We are on a journey to better capture the impact of specific projects, and the impact that our community work has collectively. You will take an active role in supporting this element of our work.
• Partnership working: Collaboration is key to our approach. You will liaise with existing clients and partners for project delivery, develop new partnerships to further our aims and also take part in key networking and external events.
• Team development: You will work closely with the Community Impact Lead to contribute to the development of the team, during our team meetings and away days. You will be comfortable managing staff, teams and subcontractors to deliver desired outcomes.
• Day-to-day operations: Working closely with the Community Impact Lead, HR and Finance, to support our remote project teams, problem solve issues as they arise, develop our internal systems and processes, maximise efficiencies and drive improvements.

The Engagement & Marketing Director role was created last year to drive forward our next strategic phase of engagement – determining how we influence, engage and mobilise people and communities to plant and protect urban trees. The maternity cover will continue to work closely with the senior team to finalise the engagement strategy and implement from 2025. Research also shows that increasing your connection with nature can positively impact a range of conditions, including stress, anxiety and depression.  RSPB Nature Prescriptions are designed to encourage and prompt people to connect to nature.

We believe that everyone, no matter where they live or the challenges they face, has the right to feel this strong connection to the natural world. Inspiring healthcare professionals and others in the NHS and social care, is a key route for the RSPB to enable more people from more diverse communities to access nature.  In so doing we hope to inspire people to love nature and work with us to save it. Through this project we intend to support more diverse audiences to connect to nature, including through the co-design of materials in different formats.

Comfortable Challenging the Status Quo: Nature Prescriptions offer a way of improving wellbeing outside of the typical medical model of healthcare

Key tasks:

• Develop and deliver a new RSPB Nature Prescriptions project to people living in diverse communities within the West Midlands
• Deliver presentations to a wide range of potential stakeholders with the aim of obtaining engagement with the project
• Engage with local healthcare professionals and community groups to identify ways of ensuring Nature Prescriptions reach a large diversity of people
• Co-design Nature Prescriptions materials with local people, community groups and healthcare professionals
• Facilitate nature connection workshops to improve the knowledge, skills and confidence of people who will be delivering Nature Prescriptions
• Develop a project plan for the delivery of Nature Prescriptions and follow project management principles to ensure a successful delivery of agreed outcomes
• Tap into local environmental networks to build a picture of nature based activities available and identify opportunities for partnership working
• Explore and contribute to the evaluation of the project, including data gathering and collecting case studies from project partners
• Represent the RSPB on relevant local health and wellbeing networks
• Build internal relationships with RSPB employees and volunteers working within the West Midlands and beyond
• Further develop our Nature and Wellbeing Sharepoint site to provide people across the RSPB access to our latest materials

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Skilled in delivering nature connection workshops or training
• Experience of working within the health and wellbeing sector
• Experience of developing and delivering projects with diverse communities
• Experience of developing external partnerships and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders
• An excellent verbal and written communicator able to communicate RSPB messages in a way that is understood by a range of audiences and that engenders their support
• Experience of successfully developing and delivering projects
• Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage and deliver a varied workload
• Skilled in using Microsoft 365 suite including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Teams

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of SharePoint management
• Experience of recruiting and managing volunteers

Green New Deal Rising is building a movement of young people from every part of the UK to fight for a response to the climate crisis that totally transforms our economy to deliver a safe climate and fairer society. The Political Organiser will be focused on strengthening our work with Green New Deal Champions and other elected officials - using advocacy, relationship-building, policy development and campaigning to increase our movement’s political power.

To excel in this role you will be goals and targets driven - ready to run at new opportunities that present themselves, love to experiment and test new things, and have a deep commitment to social movements and climate justice. This role sits within the Electoral & Organising team and will be managed by our Senior Political Organiser.
