With rising youth unemployment and less opportunities for work experience during the pandemic new ways of developing young people are desperately needed. Our Community-Apprentice Programme brings together secondary schools and local businesses to enrich education for pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. A rigorous randomised control trial provides evidence that our model develops some of the most critical soft skills for life and work.
This year we are celebrating our 20th anniversary and looking for a new Chief Executive who can build on our achievements by scaling our programmes to reach more young people.
Although you will bring experience of leading teams and ensuring quality, you’ll be attracted by the external focus of the role and relish the opportunity to build our profile and partnerships that will be key to our growth.
You’ll bring a proven track record in a senior, strategic leadership role within an organisation that has demonstrated significant growth and the ability to scale. In return we’ll offer you a topical cause, a proven solution and an opportunity to make a difference.
Britain has a deep social mobility problem. Envision is committed to changing this by helping to build a society in which success in life is not predetermined by the economic wellbeing of your parents or the post code where you grew up.
We achieve this by enabling young people from disadvantaged communities to develop the confidence and skills they need to set ambitious goals, and then overcome the barriers they face in order to achieve those goals.
Our approach is proven to work by the most rigorous of evaluation methodologies. Our challenge is to grow this solution to enable more young people to benefit.
Our programme, Community-Apprentice is, as the name suggests, a practical learning experience for young people. It is delivered by organisations and volunteers drawn from the local community - schools, businesses and local charities - brought together by Envision. These organisations invest in young people. In return young people invest their time back in the community.
We encourage applications from all backgrounds and communities, and are committed to having an organisation that is made up of diverse skills, experiences and abilities.
Closing date for applications: 5 pm Monday 30th November
