Bridgwater, Somerset
£21,972 FTE per year
Contract, 18 month fixed term contract, Part-time
Job description

The role of the Somerset Carers Engagement Project Officer will be to help place the voice of unpaid carers at the heart of Somerset's health and social care decision makers.  This includes engaging with unpaid carers in creative and diverse ways, increasing awareness of the unpaid carer role, gathering views and experiences, working in partnership with statutory, community and voluntary sector partners already providing support to avoid duplication and ensuring their voices are influencing those who make decisions.  The post holder will develop an engagement model with unpaid carers using co-production techniques.

In Somerset 58,300 people provide unpaid care to a friend or relative.  Somerset County Council and Somerset’s Clinical Commissioning Group would like to improve the way that they, and system partners, engage with unpaid carers in Somerset on an ongoing basis.  Evolving Communities has been commissioned to deliver a pilot project that supports and empowers a broader range of unpaid carers (adults and young carers) to have their voices heard by the people who buy and run services.  The outcome of this 18-month project will be a recommended model for ongoing engagement activities that will inform the future commissioning of health and social care services.  The Carers Engagement Project Officer will lead the project working with unpaid carers in a co-produced way.
