About the position
The successful candidate will be a finance professional with experience of working in an accounts payable function in an international environment. The successful candidate will come either from a similar position in another charity or from industry, looking to move into the international charity sector. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, time management, attention to detail, flexibility and tenacity are essential requirements of the post-holder as these will enable the successful candidate to liaise with both with finance and non-finance staff around the world as well as helping the finance team to maintain robust financial systems and processes. The Finance Officer will provide all staff with day-to-day advice and support on finance matters to ensure that there is good understanding of and compliance with financial controls and processes. The Finance Officer will lead on accounts payable, including all cash advances and staff expenses both in the UK and for staff and consultants overseas. The Finance Officer will also provide support for the Financial Accountant in the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliation; bank and treasury management; and the production of schedules required in relation to the year-end statutory accounts.
Responsibilities
Accounts payable
• Preparing weekly payments runs within the accounting system (Microsoft Business Central) in accordance with the agreed timetable and financial procedures, ensuring correct coding of all costs and checking completeness and accuracy of all supporting documentation;
• Setting up all payments for release via online banking by management;
• Checking all staff and consultant expense claims and monthly credit card returns, including reconciliation of any staff advances;
• Acting as a point of contact for all accounts payable queries;
• Maintaining a strong control environment, ensuring accounting records are complete and accurate; and
• Assisting on process and systems improvements which lead to more effective financial control;
• Monitoring Expensify and providing training to new users as required.
Financial accounting
• Ensure all transactions are processed accurately within the accounting system (Microsoft Business Central) – posting adjustments where necessary
• Reconcile all bank and credit card accounts
• Assist the Financial Accountant with balance sheets reconciliations as needed
• Assist the Financial Accountant with the maintenance of the fixed asset register and inventory
• Assist the Head of Finance and the Financial Accountant to maintain the organisational accounting system including the development of new systems and processes
• Help generate supporting schedules required in relation to the year-end statutory accounts and audits
• Assist the Financial Accountant with month-end tasks as required
Banking and treasury management
• Provide administrative support in relation to all bank accounts;
• Monitor bank balances and currency requirements; and
• Ensure staff travelling overseas requests for advances and credit card top ups are dealt with in a timely manner.
Other
• Resolve queries from suppliers, funders and other external customers; and
• Advise local staff, consultants and partners on financial matters and provide support as required.

Qualifications and experience
Essential
• Experience managing accounts payable for an international organisation;

Responsibilities
Training and Development of Puppies
· Take responsibility for a cohort of puppies allocated to socialisers living in your geographical area.
· Provide training that meets the charity’s quality standards and in accordance with timescales and targets.
· To deliver effective training by holding puppy classes, 121’s and home visits with socialisers in your geographical area.
· To prepare the puppy to be a Medical Alert Assistance Dog.
· Regularly monitor progress of the puppies in your area and provide detailed, evidenced feedback to the senior team within Dog Supply and training.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Solicitor to provide effective legal support to Cancer Research Horizons (CRH) across the full spectrum of activities, ensuring the effective delivery of the organisational strategy. What will I be doing?
Work independently to provide timely, proactive, pragmatic, high quality and commercial legal advice and solutions to the organisation.
Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of legal agreements relating to collaborative research and the protection and commercial exploitation of intellectual property.
Build an excellent understanding of CRH's business areas, building rapport and good working relationships across CRH and CRUK, as well as with internal and external clients.
Identify, advise on and ensure good contract management practice, in particular to embed the various policies and programmes designed to ensure contractual, corporate and legislative compliance.
Advise on spin-out activity and drafting and negotiating relevant agreements.
Develop and deliver training sessions to business managers.
Develop and maintain know-how and legal resources including through the intranet, such as template agreements and guidance notes on common issues/questions.
Manage potential / actual disputes and instruct and manage external legal advisers.
Assist CRUK in formulating policy in relation to its translational research activities and intellectual assets.
Proactively identify, monitor, address, and report on legal (and where appropriate other business) issues of significance.
Keep abreast of legal and regulatory changes, sharing relevant insights within the Research & Innovation (R&I) Legal Team and contribute to legal know-how resources.
You'll be reporting directly to the Director of Legal for R&I.
What skills are you looking for?
Qualified lawyer with sound legal training in a well-regarded legal practice, and relevant post-qualification experience in-house and/or in private practice.
Strong knowledge of intellectual property law (particularly patents), contract law and company law; ideally working knowledge of competition law and the regulatory environment relating to pharmaceutical product development.
Good drafting skills with experience of drafting agreements.
Solution-focused and pragmatic and able to apply legal knowledge and good practice in day-to-day work.
Able and prepared to quickly develop a good understanding of new legal areas and issues which affect the organisation.
Able to identify, concisely articulate and evaluate key issues and risks, taking ownership of providing solutions and practical guidance to clients.

Maintain accurate, up to date and comprehensive records of trusts on the fundraising database or CRM system (currently Raisers Edge).
The Candidate
Experience of securing gifts of over 10k from trusts.
Experience of maintaining relationships with funders and providing tailored donor care and stewardship plans.
Experience of project-based fundraising and the development of restricted and unrestricted propositions within a fundraising team.
Experience of developing pipelines of trust income and activity.
