Family for Every Child (Family) is a dynamic global alliance led by civil society organisations, brought together as members to unite skills and knowledge, collaborating to achieve greater change for children and families worldwide. We do this together by capturing and disseminating knowledge; influencing national, regional and global decision-makers to implement positive change to child protection policies and services; and conducting research based on our local and national knowledge.
Founded by the previous UK based INGO EveryChild, Family was registered as a UK not for profit with charitable status in August 2012 and an interim Board put in place. In April 2014, Family became a fully operational, independent organisation. During this developmental phase, EveryChild continued to provide funding and technical resources including financial management expertise.
Family became a fully autonomous independent entity in 2016, taking over full financial management responsibility from EveryChild, establishing the current finance function, structure and processes. This included the appointment of an outsourced finance provider and the decision to use Sage software.
Family operates two other entities in the US and New Zealand, both with limited financial management requirements supported from the UK.
Family has a membership of 40 civil society organisations from 36 countries. The membership is supported by a small Secretariat. The Secretariat staff of 30 are fully remote based, working from home across 9 different countries. Family does not have any offices.
Family has an annual income of c. £3 million.

Family is initiating the first comprehensive review of the finance function since the initial set up, recognising that Family has evolved as an organisation and that advances in technology offer opportunities for efficiencies. The review encompasses systems and processes, consideration of decision making framework and allocation of responsibility as well as a review of finance staffing.
This process is being undertaken as Family undertakes a strategy review - the second as an independent entity - and it is envisaged that any amendments to the design of the finance function will support the business model and the new financial strategy, as well as the ambition to be an agile organisation.
