Job description

Family Rights Group’s mission is to create a more socially just society in which the child welfare and family justice systems support children to live safely and thrive within their family, while strengthening the family and community networks of those children who cannot live at home.

Founded in 1974, our work combines commitment to human rights and social justice with expertise in child welfare law, policy and practice.

We are committed to increasing the diversity of our Board and making sure we best reflect the diversity of the families we serve.

This means we would particularly welcome applications from people who were in the care system or kinship care for some or all of their childhood, people from Black, Asian and minoritised ethnic backgrounds and those with different accessibility needs. 

We are seeking to recruit trustees committed to helping us to deliver our vision.

You will have substantial knowledge and/or experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • academic research expertise in child welfare and family justice
  • experience in charity law and governance
  • leading the introduction and implementation of an equalities and inclusion strategy
  • leading, working within or having personal experience of the child welfare and family justice system
  • finance
  • fundraising
  • human resources
  • child care/child protection or human rights legislation and policy framework
