Family Stability Network, (FASTN), works for a society in which all children and adults can experience safe, dependable and nurturing family environments, and where children can develop the skills needed for positive, committed relationships in adulthood. Modern families are diverse and come in many forms with many different support networks. We want all of them to thrive.
What are we looking for?
FASTN is looking for new trustees to strengthen our board. We are particularly interested in appointing a trustee with a background in front line teaching and senior school leadership who will bring their expertise in education to the board as well as contributing to all aspects of our decision making.
2020 and 2021 are particularly important because relationships education will become a statutory requirement in all schools. FASTN is working with big name relationship charities, educationalists and parent groups to ensure the relationship education that children and young people receive supports them for life.
We are fully committed to increasing the diversity of our board. A more diverse board will:
- Understand better the needs of all sections of the community
- Offer a broader range of perspectives about issues
- Be more creative in generating ideas and solutions
- Improve decision making.
To this end we want to recruit people with different skills, life experiences and from different backgrounds. We would especially welcome applications from BAME communities and young trustees who are all under-represented on our board.

FASTN is a unique charity in its early years of operation. Whilst other charities provide relationship support services or champion specific family structures or institutions, FASTN seeks to change attitudes and behaviours so that everyone has the potential to develop the skills to have healthy nurturing and dependable relationships, and to have positive relationship ambition.
What's in it for the volunteer?
This is a great opportunity to be involved in a pioneering issue, working in unique and often creative ways at an early stage of the organisation and influencing on the issue. Since the organisation is small, trustees will be exposed to a variety of issues and aspects of the organisation’s business.
Time Commitment & Location
Attendance at four board meetings per year, during working hours on weekdays. Preparation for meetings and availability for occasional additional meetings and calls.
Applications are welcomed from candidates throughout England and Wales. All staff and volunteers work remotely and the location of the board meetings is varied depending on the location of the trustees.
