Position:                Individual Giving Officer (Full time)

Reports to:              Fundraising Manager     

Salary:                   £25,000 pa 37.5 hours / week

Base:                     FareShare Midlands operates from various sites. You will be flexible regarding location, but will be allocated a main contractual base at either FareShare Midlands Nottingham, Nechells or South Wigston

FareShare Midlands are a local charity fighting food poverty by tackling food waste. We source food that is surplus to requirements from retailers and manufacturers. We rely on an army of volunteers to help redistribute this food to local charities and community groups who provide meals and food parcels to vulnerable people, including individuals who are homeless, unemployed, socially isolated, school breakfast clubs, community centres and those recovering from addictions. We work with investors and stakeholders from varying sectors not least over 500 companies in the food industry and FareShare UK. 


Summary of Role Purpose

Lead on the development and implementation of the Individual Giving Strategy to increase income across a range of Individual Giving areas including Donations, Regular Giving, Mid-level Gifts, Appeals, to achieve targets, and contribute to the charity’s ongoing sustainability.

Developing and delivering a supporter experience stewardship programme to build engagement and loyalty, thereby increasing supporter acquisition and retention and maximise the donor’s lifetime value.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

Management & Delivery

  • Create a clear and robust supporter journey plan to increase value and longevity from new and existing individual and regular donors, and improve our stewardship with inspiring multi-channel communications and engaging activities.
  • Manage the supporter experience for mid-level donors ensuring tailored relationship-management for key donors, as well as identify and solicit new prospects and opportunities.
  • Provide end-to-end management, from concept to delivery, of impactful appeals and campaigns, engaging with existing and potential donors resulting in an increase in donations and regular giving.

Monitoring, Reporting & Planning

  • Liaise with the Fundraising Assistant to ensure all donations are accurately recorded and on the CRM, maintaining an accurate audit trail of communications and funds received.
  • Take a personal approach to the thanking process ensuring each supporter receives a high level of donor care and is contacted in an appropriate and timely manner with tailored communications and inspiring content.
  • Support the Fundraising Manager with relevant data and insight to identify current and potential Major Donors.
  • Monitor and evaluate income against personal targets, and produce regular progress reports for the Fundraising Manager and Board of Trustees.
  • Ensure the CRM is kept up to date in all areas of individual giving
  • Monitor and analyse results from supporter experience activity and evaluate fundraising activity to show progress, applying results and making enhancements/improvements into future campaigns.
  • Keep up to date with sector trends, fundraising regulations and codes of practice, including data protection and Gift Aid.

Financial & Performance

  • Work to agreed targets, objectives and attend meetings as required.
  • Explore and test new methods for donor recruitment and increasing donations, including Contactless and Payroll Giving.
  • Ensure best practice in all areas to comply with current legislation and professional bodies such as Fundraising Regulator and Institute of Fundraising Guidelines.

Relationships

  • Build strong and lasting relationships with all stakeholders, confidently and effectively communicate, influence/persuade a wide range of stakeholders
  • Develop an excellent supporter experience with donors, which inspires, motivates and ensures the supporter feels valued by the contribution they are giving.
  • Work closely with the Fundraising Manager and Communication Manager to develop multi-channel impactful appeals and campaigns.
  • Work collaboratively with the Fundraising & Communications Team. Engage with the wider team, building relationships with colleagues to ensure support for all activities and identify and maximise opportunities.
  • Provide support to the Fundraising Team in other areas of fundraising activity when required.

 

Skills/Experience

Essential

  • Experienced Individual Giving fundraiser with knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of supporter acquisition, donor journey development and motivations for giving with good verbal and written communication and donor care
  • Proven track record in generating fundraising income and achieving targets
  • Experience of providing high quality supporter experience
  • Adept in engaging and motivating supporters through multi-channel fundraising campaigns
  • Experienced in developing strategic operational plans
  • Practical knowledge of a Fundraising CRM and MS Office suite
  • Outstanding relationship-management skills with proven experience of building long-term and effective partnerships
  • Confident and effective communicator with the ability to influence/persuade a wide range of stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and IT skills and methodical research skills with the ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Demonstrable experience within an individual giving role
  • Good verbal and written communication and customer care skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage own time effectively to meet deadlines
  • A strong team player who is able to work across the organisation and contribute effectively to the goals of FareShare Midlands 
  • Enthusiastic and motivated with a can-do attitude and a hands-on approach

Desirable   

 • Understanding of fundraising principles, relationship fundraising and supporter care

 • Understanding issues surrounding, food poverty and social exclusion

 • Experience of developing strategic operational plans
