Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Strategist to join our delightful and ethical team. The role will lead on the development and implementation of robust website strategies for our fantastic charity clients.

You’ll be involved in all major projects, working with new clients to devise clear, measurable and actionable website strategies. You will also work with existing clients to help them devise goals and determine metrics to measure performance and improve their sites.

We want you to help develop the role, but we’re looking for someone with experience in at least three of these key areas: 

  • Website strategy development
  • Campaign strategy development
  • Content and SEO strategy development
  • Conversion rate optimisation
  • Performance tracking and reporting
  • User research
  • Client education/upskilling on digital best practices 

What you’ll do as part of our team:

  • Help clients identify where their website sits within their broader digital, fundraising and communications plans and the ways it can best support these
  • Work with clients to identify clear goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) for their websites as well as campaigns they may run, and establish clear reporting frameworks 
  • Carry out regular strategic reviews analysing how client’s websites are performing 
  • Work with clients to identify opportunities and areas for improvement on their websites. This could include new functionality as well as design and user experience improvements   
  • Support the Fat Beehive team with user experience activities and adherence to digital best practice 

Skills and experience you’ll need to have:

  • Experience in a digital strategy or digital campaigning/ fundraising role with demonstrated experience developing and implementing digital strategies
  • Experience of working in, or good knowledge of, the charity or not-for-profit sector 
  • Good working knowledge of Google Analytics and using insights from data to inform strategies and projects
  • Ability to think creatively and see where areas of opportunity lie
  • Experience developing tracking plans – experience with Google Tag Manager will be especially useful 
  • Great writing and communication skills – you’ll need to be able to explain things in clear and simple ways to clients who may not have much digital experience
  •  Excellent time management skills – you’ll be able to manage several projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment 
  • Effective requirement gathering skills and an ability to pull these together into coherent project plans

Skills and experience that are desirable, but not essential:

We know that we can’t expect you to have all these skills, but it would be great if you were also able to offer any of the following knowledge or experience: 

  • Experience with, or knowledge of, user research 
  • Experience developing clear, focused campaign strategies 
  • Experience developing strong website content strategies, including a solid understanding of SEO best-practice
  • Experience with conversion rate optimisation (if you have experience specifically related to online fundraising even better!), including experience running A/B and/or splits
  • Experience of working in a digital agency
  • An understanding of digital workflows such as agile, waterfall or Kanban
  • Knowledge of digital tools such as Hotjar, survey software (Survey Monkey, Jot Forms, Typeform etc), Optimal Workshop, Google Optimize/Optimizely, Moz, SEMrush etc.
  • Experience of audience segmentation, research and insight metrics
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing Google AdWords
  • Experience presenting to groups and facilitating workshops 
  • Experience working with Google Drive as well as  Jira, Trello or other project management software
