Every six minutes in the UK someone loses their sight. There are currently 2.5 million people living with sight loss and blindness and this number is escalating quickly. Fight for Sight is the UK’s leading eye research charity at the forefront of pioneering science. We currently invest £8 million in over 150 active research projects at leading universities and hospitals around the UK, funding some of the brightest minds in science.
It is an exciting time at Fight for Sight and we are at a crucial point in our fight against sight loss. With the advent of Covid-19 it is more important than ever that we engage new donors and supporters for our cause and ensure that we have a financially sustainable organisation to deliver our long-term mission.
We are looking for a new Director of Finance and Operations to join our leadership team and play a vital role in the direction of Fight for Sight as we make tangible reality of our strategic ambitions. We are looking for an inspirational leader who can help us build the culture and values to achieve our ambitious goals, as well as ensuring financial sustainability in the years to come.
Supporting the board and executive team by providing financial information and leadership to maximise our sustainability and growth potential, the Director of Finance and Operations will lead on all financial aspects of the charity including budgets and controls, internal financial procedures and processes, management and statutory accounting and audit. Leading a small team, the postholder will also be responsible for our people strategy and resource, IT and premises/office services, data protection and act as Company Secretary for the charity.
You will be a qualified accountant with experience in a leadership role within a charity with a mixed fundraising portfolio. With strong experience of developing and managing financial systems and processes and of organisational change programmes, you will also have a track record of leading a wide range of corporate service functions (IT, HR, Office Services and Compliance). A strategic, focused and structured planner and transformation leader, you will have the ability to think strategically and yet still prepared to be hands-on while prioritising and coping with multiple demands in a small, but dynamic and growing charity.
We know our life-changing research can make a real difference to the lives of everyone affected by sight loss. If this is a mission that you would like to be part of, we would love to hear from you.
