Job description

Given the scale of sight loss in the UK the impact of an ageing population, and the need for cutting-edge ophthalmology research, ensuring value for money and impact is a strategic priority for the charity.

This is a new and exciting role with responsibility for leading Fight for Sight’s work in implementation and refinement of a robust performance and impact framework that will ensure our research improves the lives of patients with sight loss.

The Research and Impact Manager will shape and deliver a framework for monitoring and evaluating the impact of our grants portfolio and wider research activities, consolidating the role of the organisation as the leading charitable research funder across the eye research sector. Fight for Sight has been growing its sphere of influence with policy makers, patients, funders and scientists over the last few years, and we are looking for a proactive individual to support this work by increasing our ability to track and report our impacts, highlighting to donors and beneficiaries our important role and enabling us to be adaptive to changes as they arise.

An experienced research impact / monitoring, evaluation and learning specialist with an understanding of value for money approaches to grant-making, you will be a key member of the Research, Policy and Innovation team. You will lead on all activities that seek to increase the impacts of our work for patients and shape how we communicate these, ultimately increasing opportunities for attracting research funding. You will support the Senior Leadership Team of the charity, identifying opportunities to improve how we track and report our impact.
