Job description

The Findhorn Foundation in Northern Scotland is a charity dedicated to transforming human consciousness in the setting of an ecovillage community. The Foundation is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, motivated individual to live in our community and take our fundraising work to the next level.

You will work with an internal development officer who will provide knowledge and connections into the organisation to form the new Fundraising Team. You will be part of a lively community and a highly engaged, creative communications team. In the role, you will have a wide scope to try new ideas and approaches while also working co-creatively with your partner officer.



  • Implement the fundraising strategy 2019/2020 with focus on:

    1. Improving ongoing fundraising channels, systems and processes

    2. Professionalising donation handling and enhancing donor experience

    3. Ensuring compliance with fundraising legislation and regulations

    4. Developing targets, KPI’s and delivering results

  • Develop and manage the fundraising strategy 2020+

    1. Identify and include new income opportunities such as grants, legacies and trusts

    2. Oversee and project manage fundraising campaigns

  • Communicate with existing and prospective donors to build relationships and ensure the impact is clear to all internal and external stakeholders

  • Hold vision, use inner work, meditation and manifestation to generate monetary abundance



  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree with at least five years of development experience and a successful track record in cultivating leads and eliciting major contributions from individuals and/or corporations

  • Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills

  • Project management skills

  • Ability to multi-task and find solutions within complexity

  • Willingness to live and work in community, embody the spiritual principles and commit to the aims of the Findhorn Foundation

  • Experienced with strategy development and implementation, legacies and grants (preferred)

  • Self-starter with a network of donor relationships (preferred)

  • one year minimum time commitment



  • You will be part of a community of 120 co-workers in one of the oldest and largest ecovillages in the world, with 600 people in the wider community

  • Residential position with £260 monthly allowance OR non-residential position at national minimum wage

  • Comprehensive introduction to the Findhorn Foundation through staff intake programmes

  • 30 days paid vacation per year, plus two Spiritual & Personal Development weeks

  • Two vegetarian meals each day freshly prepared at the subsidised rate of £1
