Job description

Focus Birmingham a leading charity which delivers a range of activities and services to support those living with a visual impairment and other disabilities in Birmingham, is seeking an exceptional candidate to fill the key role of Financial Controller as they build a springboard to the next phase of exciting growth. At a crucial juncture in the organisation’s evolution, the role is a statement of intent in terms of their growing ambitions and the need to strengthen the financial inputs to the leadership team that you will be a part of.

This role is responsible for a small team and the full range of accounting functions including preparation of Final accounts. The successful candidate will need the capacity to operate at a ‘hands-on’ level whilst also having to write reports and deliver commentaries to the board of Trustees.  The successful applicant will need to understand the importance of detail and take responsibility for ensuring all deadlines for reports, returns etc. are met.

Whilst at least part qualified, a charity background would be advantageous but not absolutely essential, however your personal attributes are, being proactive, innovative, dynamic and entrepreneurial with the ability to lead others and inspire by example are the qualities we’re looking for.
