For Jimmy - our vision & mission

The charity was founded by Barry & Margaret Mizen after their son Jimmy was tragically killed by another young person in 2008.

Their message is forgiveness, peace and hope, and they have worked tirelessly to spread this message across the UK, inspiring young people to become the change makers within their own communities.

Our mission is to build the safest communities for young people to grow up in, and we do this through a range of programmes inspiring greater individual responsibility, building more connected communities, and creating safe places for young people to turn to.

Our programmes include the Talks for Change where we share Jimmy’s story and his family’s response; Safe Havens programmes with 8-13 year olds in schools; Safe Havens engagement with business owners and the wider community; Safety Conferences bringing everyone together to find solutions to safety concerns; and Young Citizens programmes enabling young people aged 14+ to implement their own solutions for safer communities.

Purpose of the role

This is great opportunity for an experienced bid writer to hit the ground running. This role will be responsible for managing and reporting on existing funds, as well as writing compelling new funding applications to a variety of trusts, foundations and other relevant grant funders, including statutory funders such as the Home Office and MOPAC.

For the job description and person specification please download the application pack.

We do ask for a covering letter as well as a CV. In the cover letter, we would like to hear what it is about this role that excites you, why you would like to work for this particular charity, and how you meet the essential criteria in the person specification. This should be no longer than two sides.

Applications will be received up until midnight on Sunday 25th August, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Please download our Candidate Privacy Policy for information on how we manage your application information.
